ACTERON SECTOR

Week 2 - Reconnaissance

You know that your enemy is preparing for an attack on you.  You are ready but you need Intel.  You need to know where the enemy is and what their strength is.  In order to do this you are launching recon patrols.

ARMY SELECTION

Use standard force org chart up to 1000 points.

OBJECTIVES

Set-up D3+2 objective markers before either side deploys or rolls for their deployment area.  The Attacker player sets up the first objective, then the Defender player, and so on until the requisite number of markers has been placed.  Objectives may be set up anywhere on the table more than 12" from a table edge or another objective.

DEPLOYMENT

The Defender deploys first, but before they do so, the Attacker player must secretly write down which table edge (any of the 4) his units will enter from.  The Defender then deploys anywhere on the table that is MORE than 12" away from any table edge.  Attacking units will enter play from the pre-selected table edge on the attacking player's first turn, and will fall back towards this edge.

RESERVES

The Attacker player may place any number of units in reserve.  They enter from their nominated table edge.  The defender player may NOT place ANY units in reserve (even ones that can deep strike no matter what, they can NOT deep strike this mission and MUST be deployed on the table)

FIRST TURN

The Attacker has first turn.  All units must enter via the nominated edge.  Any that do not enter first turn are put into reserves and rolled for each turn as per the 40K Rule Book..

VICTORY CONDITIONS

At the end of the game the player that captures the most objectives wins.

SPECIAL RULES

Fog of War- At the start of the battle the Defender is not expecting to be attacked, and the Attacker is not sure of the Defender's position.  This is represented by the deployment instructions for this mission.  In addition, on the first game turn units may only shoot or assault if they first pass a Leadership test.  If the test is failed then the unit may NOT shoot or assault that turn.  Units that fail the roll may NOT run instead of shooting that turn either.

SUMMER TRAINING LEAGUE

You have been chosen by your race to be the next Commander of Forces!  You have shown great promise and your race expects GREAT things from you on the battlefield.  But first, you must survive the Field Commander Training Course!  So prepare your newly assigned troops, and come learn what it takes, and what it means, to be a Force Commander.  It doesn't matter if: the Hive Mind chose you, you've risen through the imperial ranks, your the biggest Ork der iz, or if you've won your position through pain and suffering at the hands of your brethren, because the fate of your army, and possibly your entire race rests in your hands!

Our summer Escalation league is designed to act as a training ground for new commanders and as a rules/tactics refresher course for the more experienced commanders.  Whether your BRAND NEW to 40K or an old hand, you won't want to miss this important chance to hone your skills and become the best Army Commander you can!
