A Word From Brian
It was pure luxury as Barry, Irene and I were just about to enter the Steam Cave at Poet's Cove Spa. We were unwinding at the end of our August Pender Island Kayak Tour. This prototype kayak tour is setting the stage for some relaxing, interesting and really fun tours for the next season.
The last few months have been glorious but with the cooler weather coming in, we are getting ready for our ad campaign, "There is no such things as bad weather if you have great clothing". Our new clothing and footwear products are in now and we are just waiting to get our snow gear for the coming season.
Don't think for the minute that Ocean River is only a place come in the summer. We will soon introduce our snowshoe courses as well as some other exciting programs. Out famour GEAR GRAB SALE is just around the corner (Sept. 25 and 26) and it is soooo worth while to join us for amazing deals again this year. Hope you are getting out there,

Something new for 2011 - 'The Pender Island Tour' By Mark Blackman
'The Pender Island Prototype Tour' has been and gone but still in our minds at being one of our finest local tour offerings. Brian, myself and five lucky clients went out to Pender Island on a 3 day Gulf Islands exploration trip on Friday August 27th to Sunday August 29th to test drive our newest tour. Bed & Breakfast accommodation, fresh home made food, winery tour and tastings, eating out, spa, markets, culture, trekking with a classic dose of fantastic gulf islands kayaking. All in the aid of delivering something difference to our kayaking trips, providing some alternative ways of getting you out there whilst supporting the local communities.
See our trip itinerary for a tour description and look out for dates of when our next tour is in 2011.

A Kyuquot Sound Experience True West Coast Paddling
Kyuquot Sound, the Bunsby Islands and Brooks Peninsula is a spot on
this earth everyone would benefit from experiencing. It represents true
West Coast Canada - rugged, beautiful and wild. It offers so much for
anyone with an adventurous spirit.
Our tour in early July was one I helped develop with my old friend
Dave Pinel who owns and runs West Coast Expeditions. Ocean River and
WCE work as partners in order to offer a complete, safe and super fun
experience in a place that few people get to experience. Read more...

Still Plenty of Ex-Rental Boats and Boards Left! Put down your deposit today!
ORS rental and demo boats are always the best boats in the business. Most were new this spring and only used for this season. Our boats are always in great condition and are a real deal as we sell them off at the end of this season.
We are already taking deposits ($300) to confirm the purchase of the boat you have always wanted. Approx. 50 boats will be sold off this year, so talk to our staff soon about them.
Boats will be available for pick up in mid September. These boats are amazing deals so don't miss out.

Paddle to the Premier: Stop the Site C Dam
From the coast to the Kootenays, from Bute Inlet to Glacier-Howser,

Adventure Centre News
King 5's Evening Magazine with ORS. | Summer Over? As if! There's plenty of space left out there between now, fall and winter. Besides,
the water is just as wet in September and October as it is in August. Go on...get
out there. August saw us put more
people on the water than any other month we have ever had! Our day tours and
kayak and SUP rentals were at an all time high giving us a great boost, a busy
water front and a whole load of satisfaction with superb weather. Up
and Coming Courses 'Surf & Surge'
October 16th - Our finest course and one great weekend. Join Gary
Doran for a weekend of structured wave tuition and some ultimate swell
negotiation. 'Rolling' October
2nd & 23rd - Bring yourself and your own boat for some
rolling tune ups, borrow one of ours or even if you haven't quite ventured to
the worlds of upside down kayaking yet, we will get you
around.
Summer
Paddle Canada
Courses Gary (Doran) and Gary
(Allen) have been hard at it all season putting people through their Paddle
Canada paces and having great pass rates from Level 1 skills all the way through
to Level 2 Instructor. Our very own Peter Carson and Janette Galan passed their
Level 2 Instructors Courses without surprise last week which is great for them,
great for us and even better for you. More
successes Stand Up Paddling: Its
plain to see. Its an addiction! People are raving about it and we're all over
it. The last SUP course of the summer/fall is October 2nd. Get Up,
Stand Up, Sign Up while you can. Some more successes is our Ocean River Sports
Stand Up Paddling Racer - Yannick Machaud. Yannick, who has instructed the
majority of our courses this summer won the SUP Island Race Series in August which is a
direct representation of his dedication and application to the sport. He's a
great addition to the store and the Adventure
Centre. All
in all: We have the best instructors, the best location, the best courses and
all the best gear. We're are allowed to brag too : )
