A Word From Brian...
 Things are rolling now and all of us at Ocean River are set for the busy season. I too have been busy with my active life with lots of activities going on including an old BMW motorcycle enabling me to explore in a whole new way. However, I'm also doing more paddling, and getting my feet back into our Adventure Centre. It was tons of fun to get out on our guide/instructor training a couple of weeks ago. We have a great crew this year, and I plan to be instructing and guiding more as well. I think it is good for the soul to simply be out there sharing the enthusiasm.
I always headed west for paddling trips. More recently I've been focusing on our own Gulf Islands, and I want to share how special it is. The Gulf Island National Park is truly amazing, and I will be focusing more energy to show everyone this great resource right at our doorstep. We truly live in the best place on the planet to be a paddler.
Business is always a challenge but somehow ORS has created a special niche that is difficult for the big guys to enter. We know that it is all about our relationship with our customers so I thank you so much for coming to ORS, and be guaranteed that we will do our best to help you get out there, no matter what activities you do.  Stand up for Wild Salmon -
Join the 'The Get Out Migration'
Salmon Are
Sacred is calling on everyone who loves wild salmon to participate in the finale
to 'The Get Out Migration' which started on Earth Day (22nd April). Alexandra
Morton and many others are walking from northern Vancouver Island all the way to
Victoria by
May 8th in order to send a message to the government to get open net salmon
farms out of BC waters. Join some of ORS's staff on the last leg of this journey.

 Lookout summer, we're
open for longer, standing up paddling, taking photos, involving the world
champion and thinking about the kids
schedule.
Evening Rentals & Stand Up PaddlingSwing on down to Ocean
River Sports every weekday night from 5pm to 8pm starting on May 13th
to rent a single for $25 or a double for $35. Stand Up Paddle Boarding is a thing
of the future and we're on the game. We have seven SUP course dates from June to
October are now offering SUP rentals. Come down and we'll get you out there.
Outdoor Digital Photography CoursesWe have teamed up once
more with Mike Byrne from Clocktower Images to deliver some exceptional outdoor
digital photography courses, as we near the development of an 'on the water'
kayak photography instructional tour next year. Check out our Level One and Level Two courses running in May, June and July this summer.
Build Your Own Greenland Kayak with MaligiaqThis month we confirmed a
Greenland Kayak Boat building course to take place in September with the World
Greenland Kayak Rolling Champion, Maligiaq. There are 8 spots available for this
exclusive workshop to take place between Sept 15- 22. Call the
Adventure Centre and speak to Mark for further details. A list of interested
parties is currently being taken.
Paddling CoursesOur courses are filling
up and June is getting popular. Have a look at our calendar for courses in May
and get ahead to get out there. Fine tune some drills, tweek some edges, try something new and cool or do the Canoe. Something for the kids Youth (11-13 yr) and Junior (14-15 yr) 5 day lake and ocean kayaking camps
designed to get your youngsters out there and (dare we say it?) away from you
perhaps? We have had years of success with these camps and have exposed
many children to the world of kayaking. Check out our itinerary and give us a
shout.
