Volunteer
 for the
Trailrider
Program

The local TrailRider Hiking with the Disabled Program is looking for fit and energetic volunteers for its biweekly, seasonal outings in CRD parks.

Trailrider

The TrailRider is a one-wheeled, non-motorised device that seats a disabled person and allows access to difficult terrain. Porters front and back of the device push and pull the TrailRider up and down hills, over rocks, tree roots and stumps, and along established trails.

Our Historic Harbour
 Ocean River starts to work
 on our historic harbour.

This summer, we decided that it was important to bring to light the historic aspects of our location and that of the Upper Harbour.  Capital Iron, the Harbour Ferry and Ocean River Sports got together to start a Gateway to the Harbour.  We built a rest area and lookout where people can go to sit, relax and enjoy the waterview.

Rice Mill Landing

Imagine what it was like 100 years ago.  At that lookout, there are historical signs that explain how it was and there are even artifacts of the years gone by on display. We are in the process of creating interpretive signs for the artifacats. One such piece is a beautiful old bandsaw that was used 100 years ago at VMD where ships were built.

The Harbour Ferry is landing at Ocean River's  dock now and will allow more people to enjoy our great waterfront.

Next time you are visiting the store, we recommend that you take a walk out the back of the store to the water. I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised at the beginning of our wonderful project that will allow more people to enjoying our historic harbour.
Customer Service Feedback
Thanks from Kate

I was in the other week shopping for a rain jacket and was blown away by the knowledge, friendliness and overall service I received as a customer.

Circle Check MarkI had been shopping around town checking out the competition before coming to ocean river. These are the things you guys did that the other stores didn't...

 - When I walked into Ocean River I was genuinely and cheerfully greeted by staff.

- Dan provided me with excellent knowledge off all the jackets I could possibly buy, pulling them off the rack for me to try on.

- You guys actually had a jacket that looked good, fit, was of great quality and was affordable.

- The kiwi guy at cash was friendly, interested in what I was buying and could work the cash register in a timely manner.

Since I had been shopping around it was glaringly obvious that this excellent customer service, product knowledge, and products are unique to Ocean River.

You guys rock!
