A word from the Peter...
It looks like the weather has finally turned in all of our
favour and inspiring many of the staff to get out and walk the talk.
Brian
is away paddling in Scotland and enjoying the freedom of the rugged coast line,
good friends, "tasty" haggis and wearing a kilt in a kayak. Justin Dunlop
is leading a troop of our newer staff members for a trip to the Broken Group for
a self induced long weekend of fine paddling, beautiful wildlife, many
laughs and good food.
Do not fret though, we have enough staff still to
keep the doors open, the docks busy and the great deals happening. Looking
forward to seeing you in store or on the water.
Cheers,
Peter Erickson

From his kayak adventure in the Scottish Utter Hebrides. It is like paddling on the edge of the world in this barren, but incredibly exciting place. We loaded our kayaks onto the ferry at Oben and rode the ferry for 5 hours to the Island of Barra. We paddled south through the islands of Vatersay, Sandray, Pabba, Mingulay and Berneray. Bird and plant life is amazing and the 600' cliffs and sea caves were a scale unlike anything I have ever paddled. This is not a place for the faint of heart, but for those with a sense of adventure. We were blessed with great weather for nearly the whole trip. Winds were fairly constant but usually at our back and the swell was at times huge, which often became more obvious when exploring caves on the west coast. This is a place every serious paddler should be able to experience. There is a kayak touring company located in Castle Bay on Barra, Clearwater Paddling and you can see more about the area on their web sitewww.clearwaterpaddling.com Come in and talk to me if you are interested in going there. I'm sure I can help you out with suggestions and recommendations.Brian |
