CUAOk to Host Financial Literacy Council Workshop
The Oklahoma CU Financial Literacy Council is committed to improving the financial literacy of all Oklahomans, and helping individuals understand the importance of managing their finances responsibly.
Credit unions interested in promoting financial literacy in their communities need to pencil-in the July 28 Financial Literacy Workshop on their calendars. Attendees can use information learned at the workshop to introduce financial literacy concepts to high school students, and contribute to the efforts to improve financial literacy statewide. ICUNet Meeting Set for July 9
The ICUNet will host a roundtable discussion from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, at the Stroud Conference Center, located at 218 W Main Street in Stroud, Okla. Topics to be discussed include International ACH Transactions, loan issues, Red Flag ID Theft Program/Policies and strategic planning. All are welcome to attend the meeting.
Dealing With and Understanding Bankruptcy: Topic for Next Lending Council Meeting
Individuals wanting to learn more about the bankruptcy process need to register for the July 14 Lending Council meeting, to be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the David Temple room at TTCU. TTCU is located at 3720 E 31st Street in Tulsa, Okla.
The meeting will begin with a PowerPoint by John D. Dale, attorney at law, followed by lunch and will close with a question and answer session. Key questions to be anwered include:
- What is the impact of the new cram down rules?
- There was a lull in activity shortly after the recent legislation, but it picked up in the last 18 months. What changed?
- How can credit unions better address the Indian title issue?

SCMS Auction to Better Credit Union Education
Readers and members of the credit union family are invited to make a difference in the evolution of the credit union industry by supporting the Southwest CUNA Management School Class of 2010 scholarship auction, held the evening of July 21 at the Texas Christian University campus in Fort Worth. Aside from bidding on a variety of items, ranging from homemade crafts to sporting event tickets and more, participants are also investing in the future for tomorrow's credit union leaders. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the event go directly to scholarships.
