OCUL to Host Strategic Planning Workshop
for Small and Economically Challenged Credit Unions
"Those who fail to plan-plan to fail."
Our credit union industry is feeling the pressure from competitive, economic and regulatory fronts. In order to survive and continue providing outstanding service to member-owners, credit unions must keep their financial senses keen on the mission, objectives and strategies of their organization as well as the many external forces threatening their existence.

For those reasons, the OCUL is hosting a pilot Strategic Planning Workshop for Small Credit Unions, scheduled for April 23 and 24 at the Cimarron Hotel and Suites in Stillwater, Okla. The workshop uses a flexible format that can be tailored to each credit union's unique planning needs. In just 24 hours participants will walk away with a plan that will allow the credit union to take control of its destiny.

Communication Federal Credit Union Recently Celebrated
Grand Opening For Newly Renovated Branch
Communication Federal Credit Union recently held a grand opening celebration for its newly renovated branch location in downtown Oklahoma City, at the corner of 6th Street and Walker Avenue.

Communication has been at this location since 1963 and is excited about the midtown redevelopment initiative. "As a long-time member of the downtown and midtown communities, Communication is glad to be a part of the revitalization effort and to serve those who live and work nearby. We believe in the area and have continuously maintained a branch at this location for almost 50 years of our credit union's 70 year history, even through the years when many area businesses relocated," stated William Counts, President/CEO of Communication Federal Credit Union.

The renovation and expansion included the addition of five drive-thru lanes, a 24-hour drive-up ATM, safe deposit boxes and an Internet Café available to members of the credit union. The credit union offers a wide range of financial services, from free checking accounts to first mortgage loans.
Southwest Corporate FCU Says Goodbye to Jody Beck
After 32 years of service, the Senior Vice President of Operations, Jody Beck will retire from Southwest Corporate.

Tiff OCUL logoFew-if any-can top her years of service to the corporate credit union industry. Beck came aboard in 1977 when Southwest Corporate was little more than a notion. Now, she is the Senior Vice President of Operations at a multi-billion dollar organization that serves the financial needs of about 1,500 credit unions from coast to coast.

"I feel blessed to have gotten in on the ground floor at Southwest Corporate," Beck says modestly. "And this is exactly where I have wanted to be for the last 32 years."
