CU-On-The-Ice Night
Scheduled For Dec. 13, 2008

The Oklahoma Credit Union League is sponsoring the first ever CU-On-The-Ice Night on Dec. 13, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. This event, benefiting Children's Miracle Network and the Oklahoma Credit Union Foundation, will take place at the Blazer's Ice-Centre located at 8000 S. I-35 in Oklahoma City.   Tickets range from $20 to $10.

Why Should Your Credit Union Get Involved?
  1. A portion of each ticket sold will go directly to the non-profits Oklahoma credit unions care most about
  2. Multiple credit unions working together shows that credit unions are a cooperative organization
  3. It is a family-friendly event
If you would like to order tickets to sell at your credit union, please contact Jim Fox at the Blazer's office by calling 405.235.7825.

You Are Invited to Join the OCUL
Compliance ListServ & Forum
We are encouraging credit union staff to join the Oklahoma Credit Union League Compliance Listserv & Forum.  The Forum was established to allow credit union professionals and volunteers to ask questions, exchange information, and share ideas with their peers in Oklahoma.

Simply have your employees send an email to David Bianchini, dbianchini@okleague.coop, put compliance listserv in the subject line and state their name and credit union in the body of the email. A followup email will be sent with instructions on how to log on, submit questions, etc.

800 Number for Richard DelSesto In Place

As most of you know, twelve-year OCUL veteran Richard Del Sesto, Vice President of Research and Information, left the Oklahoma Credit Union League last month and returned to his home in Rhode Island. However, he will be assisting the League as it goes through the transition to the staff change to Oklahoma City and the hiring of a new person to handle his responsibilities via an 800 number through which Oklahoma credit unions will be able to reach him for assistance. He will also be available by email and will continue his Regulatory Updates on a contract basis until a new person is on board.

You may call Richard DelSesto on 866-977-7424 or email him at rdelsesto@okleague.coop.

New RESPA Rules Unveiled
Resource: CUNA News Now
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development last Wednesday announced final rules implementing its overhaul of Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act provisions. The changes, years in the making, are meant to simplify and improve disclosure requirements for mortgage settlement costs.

Jeffrey Bloch, senior assistant general counsel of the Credit Union National Association (CUNA), said there are a few beneficial changes in the final rule from an earlier proposal, which will be good news to credit unions.

People And Credit Unions In The News
New Chief Operations Officer Named
for Tinker Federal Credit Union
Tinker Federal Credit Union has announced the selection of David G. Willis as Executive Vice President/Chief Operations Officer. Willis came on board the TFCU senior management staff this week and will fill the new position to oversee the operations and lending functions of the credit union. He reports directly to President/CEO Michael D. Kloiber.

Before joining TFCU, Willis had been at Kitsap Credit Union in Bremerton, Wash., since February 1984. During his tenure at that credit union, Willis held several positions with increasing responsibility, most recently that of Senior Vice President/Chief Operations Officer.

Willis earned his B.A. in business management at the University of Washington and served in both the U.S. Navy Reserves and U.S. Marine Corp Reserves. Last year, he was awarded the Business Ethics Exemplar Award by Chapman University and, in 2006, the Paul Harris Award for Community Service by Rotary International. He moved to Oklahoma from Port Orchard, Wash., with his wife, Tina, and their two children, Kyle and Nichole. The family will settle in Edmond, Okla.

"We are glad to have Dave on board," said TFCU President/CEO Michael D. Kloiber. "Even more important than the credit union industry experience he brings to the job, he also brings a proven desire and ability to improve the lives of those we serve and the communities they live in. And, that is what our credit union is all about."

TFCU is the largest credit union in Oklahoma, with over $1.7 billion in assets and over 194,000 members.
