HR Council Meeting Scheduled For June 5

 
The second quarterly meeting of the HR Council will consist of roundtable discussions on Supervisor Training and the HR portion of building a Disaster Recovery Plan.  The meeting will be held at the Stroud Conference Center on June 5, 2008 from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m.

Complete Your Red Flag Risk Assessment At The June 10 Compliance Council Meeting
 
The Compliance Council's next meeting will be Tuesday, June 10 at the Stroud Conference Center.  Participants will break off into groups to develop their Red Flag Risk Assessment.  In addition to the group activities, representatives from Verafin will discuss Red Flag compliance and how to integrate these identity theft compliance requirements with BSA/AML, and fraud detection procedures already in place. Please Note: Attendees should bring their credit union's vendor list and a list of products and services, as well as any additional pre-developed Red Flag compliance materials.

Be honored For Your Work At The NYIB Annual Conference
 
I want to encourage each of our Oklahoma credit union marketers who plan to attend this year's National Youth Involvement Board Conference, held July 28 - 31 at the Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, to participate in the Best Practices Showcase.  Not only is it a great way to show others the hard work you have done in regards to youth marketing and financial literacy, but it's a great way to win a registration to the 2009 Annual Conference.

NYIB Leadership Opportunities
 
Have you ever wanted to take your involvement and passion for working with youth to the next level?  Well, here's a leadership opportunity for you!  The NYIB Executive Committee is holding elections for a Regional Coordinator in the Central Region, which includes Alabama, Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas. Bank Secrecy Act For Front Line Webcast Has Been Cancelled

Don't Miss Out On Upcoming Opportunities To Meet Your Training Requirements
As you well know, all board and committee members are now required to receive annual training on the Bank Secrecy Act regulations and compliance requirements.  And at no cost to your credit union, a representative from the League is available to visit your credit union and meet with your Board of Directors and Committee members in a brief 30-45 minute session to discuss this regulation and its impact on your Credit Union's operations.  If you are interested in scheduling this training, please contact Dana Kroutil at extension 240 or via email at dkroutil@okleague.coop.  
 
In addition, your credit union staff can complete their annual training on on the Bank Secrecy Act by attending the following seminar:
  • CUNA's "Bank Secrecy Act Requirements for Staff" Webinar will be held on July 10 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. (Central Time)  For more information or to register for this Webinar, go to www.cuna.org, click on "Training" and then on "All Training Events Calendar" and scroll down to the webinar date. (This Webinar will also be archived and available at a later date.)
 
CUNA Hosts Free Webinar On Market/Economic Events
 
The CUNA CFO Council is offering a "free" Webinar this Friday, May 30, at 12 p.m. The Webinar topic for this one-hour event is "Market/Economic Events and the Financial Performance of the Corporate Network."  The Webinar information is a discussion of the current market environment relating to credit unions and most specifically, to corporate credit unions, including a review of the financial health, safety and soundness of the Corporate Network.

Foreclosures on subprime real estate properties have spawned turmoil in the mortgage market and continue to make financial headlines. But, a new white paper released by Southwest Corporate Investment Services, "Making a Case for Mortgages," suggests that mortgage lending still offers credit unions plenty of opportunity.
