Lisa from Delran asks: What Is A Chemical Peel? Can I Have One Anytime Of The Year?
|
A chemical peel is a chemical form of exfoliating the top layer of skin. There are many different types of peels, but the most common are Glycolic and Salicylic. The best candidate for a Glycolic peel is someone who is concerned with "tightening and brightening" their skin. Glycolic peels are also known to prevent signs of aging - whether it be hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, or just rejuvenating the new skin underneath. The best candidate for a Salicylic peel is someone who is concerned with breakouts and congested skin. The salicylic acid penetrates deep into the pores and cleans and removes the bacteria causing breakouts. You can absolutely receive peels any time of the year, just remember, peels make your skin sensitive to sun exposure so be sure to wear the proper sun protection and always re-apply your sunscreen!
