For years, scientists suggested that body weight might actually be a plus in protecting against osteoporosis (a benefit of "mechanical loading"). But recent research has revealed that excess body fat, especially visceral (or "core") fat, leads to a higher fat content in the bones as well - making them weaker and more susceptible to the effects of osteoporosis. Young, premenopausal, but overweight women may have weaker bones and are therefore at greater risk as they age for sustaining fractures and other complications of osteoporosis! |

Do women with significant breast asymmetry - one cup size or more difference - have an increased chance of developing breast cancer?
Answer: There is some evidence suggesting that this is true. Women with significant asymmetry may be at a greater risk for developing breast cancer and should therefore be performing self exams, having regular checkups and regular mammograms and should be more vigilant in their follow up.
