Red Hair Alert ! Increased Risk Of Skin Cancer

Archives of Dermatology, August, 2010: This long term follow-up study showed that patients with red hair are more often diagnosed with skin cancer at a younger age than those with other hair types. Having red hair was also shown to increase the risk for having multiple skin cancer lesions. The most common form of skin cancer is "Basal Cell Carcinoma" but it is easily treatable and essentially 100% curable if found early.  People with red hair should take extra precautions in protecting and caring for their skin (eg. sun blockers). Red heads should also have earlier and more thorough skin cancer screening as well as timely follow-up by their skin care specialists such as Plastic Surgeons, Dermatologists and Certified Aestheticians.

Look Younger, Live Longer?
A 2009 University of Southern Denmark study of nearly 2000 twins came to a dramatic conclusion. Twins judged by an independent assessor as having a more youthful appearance than their counterparts (ie. having identical genetic backgrounds but still looking younger) were shown to actually live longer as well! Twins who looked "young for their age" and as compared to their twin, had fewer health problems, longer lifespans, and retained full cognitive function longer.  Did they look better because they "lived better"?
Male Cosmetic Surgery

Nearly 70% of men seeking cosmetic surgery (as recently surveyed by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery) listed as their top priority the goal of "staying competitive at work".
