sweltering heat, stifling humidity and burning sun rays
go hand in hand.
Take a break from the heat and check out the latest
news from Vista.
I am particularly excited about our latest new fixture,
the 4260, that answers
your need for a product that is simple to install for
decks and masonry walls. I think you will find it to be

| Vista's On-Site Testing Laboratory |
 |
|
Building the industry's highest quality landscape
lighting products starts with the right design. To verify
the integrity and compliance of each product we make,
our engineers use our on-site laboratory, one of the
industry's most comprehensive.
Vista's laboratory is one of the few in the industry that
has been certified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL),
enabling us to carry out our own compliance testing
right on site. We test to the appropriate UL standards
for each device, the foremost being UL1838 Low
Voltage Landscape Lighting Systems. This on-site
testing allows us to rapidly develop new products and
make quick improvements to existing designs.
UL testing is an important assurance to the specifier,
contractor and end-user of a safe design for the
intended application. To assure product compliance
with UL standards, our lab technicians complete a
battery of tests for heat, current, impact, water-
intrusion, and the resilience of wiring connections.
Each test is done to strict guidelines mandated by UL
and simulates extreme conditions that could stress a
product to the point of failure.
In addition to these important compliance tests, Vista
engineers also use the laboratory to measure the
overall longevity of our products, which ensures they
provide our customers with lasting satisfaction.

| Lighting Techniques: Underwater Lighting |
 |
|
Underwater lighting can extend the enjoyment
of a pond, fountain or waterfall after dark. As an
important focal point in the landscape,
a water feature merits special attention and
techniques in your plan.
To light across the bottom of a pond, fixtures can be
tucked into rock walls or other
recesses so they blend into the natural appearance of
the pond during the day. Another popular technique is
to position fixtures below a
waterfall or fountain nozzle to turn each
water drop into a glimmering jewel of light.
Model 5217 is
our best-selling underwater
fixture, featuring a weighted concrete base,
a high-grade composite housing and a composite
lens cover. It uses up to a 50 watt MR-16 lamp
that can be adjusted up to 25 degrees for
precise control. Model 2117 is
a similar fixture with a
brass lens cover. Both can be ordered
with optional long-life LED for reduced
re-lamping.
Model
4217 has a prismatic lens and mirror
reflector for wide-area underwater lighting.
It is popular for large ponds and
fountains. It is shipped with a standard 10
watt T3 lamp and has a weighted base for
stability underwater.
All underwater lights are shipped with 15
feet of cable to allow splices to be made
outside of the water feature. Note that
all Vista underwater fixtures are intended
for water features only and should never be
used in pools, spas or other installations
with human contact.

| Creating a Memorable Slogan for Your Company |
 |
|
Memorable advertising slogans like "Have it your way",
"Let your fingers do the walking" and "The Ultimate
Driving Machine" have all helped to build the brands of
the companies that used them, in this case
Burger King, Yellow Pages and BMW. Hearing these
slogans instantly reminds you of each company and
its unique message.
Adding a powerful
tagline associated with your company's logo
can help reinforce your message and make your
company memorable to potential buyers.
So how do you create an effective tag line for
your company? Consider these tips:
- Keep it short. Use as few words as
possible.
- Mention your company name, if possible.
Remember "Your in Good Hands with Allstate"
or "Nationwide is on Your Side"?
- Use descriptive words - create "word
pictures".
- Avoid being cute or off-color. Be careful
with puns or double entendres.
Potential customers may not appreciate your
sense of humor.
Add power to your marketing message with a
company slogan. As the folks at Nike would say, "Just
Do It!"

This compact fixture can be easily integrated
into any deck or hardscape application.
Measuring only 6" long x 1" wide, the
discreet unit can be hidden easily to create
beautiful effects without revealing the light
source.
Its simple, but effective design allows it to
be applied as a rail light for decks,

light, it can be installed under the treads
of stairs to light masonry, paver or wood
staircases.
Adding to the unit's versatility, it is

masonry or paver wall installations. This
permits easy installation of lighting into
masonry walls or columns without the need to
cut openings for traditional brick-shaped lights.
The unit comes standard with a wedge-base,
T3.5 Xenon lamp with a 10 watt maximum.
Four different models are available:
- 4260: die cast aluminum, available in
your choice of 13 different polyester
powder-coated finishes.

All four models have a stainless steel
internal chassis and protective frosted glass
lens for uniform light diffusion.
