Walking Worthy of the Call
by Kimberly Johnson
Several weeks ago, during my personal worship time the Lord chimed in the midst of my lovely song and asked me, "Are you walking worthy of the call?" I replied, "What is my call, Lord?" He answered, "A leader of watchmen."
I have to admit that I have not been running full force with this assignment. How do you lead watchmen? How do you walk worthy? His question that morning set me on a quest for a greater understanding of Ephesians 4:1 where Paul encourages us to "walk worthy of the calling with which you were called."
One of the meanings of the word "walk" is "to make due use of opportunities". The questions then come: Am I making due use of the opportunities the Lord puts in my life? Do I see the worthiness of the call upon my life? Do I share it with others and allow them to be part of this God given opportunity? Do I understand this call or in some translations it says "vocation" that I am called to?
My perspective on ministry has changed from this encounter. I have come to terms with the magnitude of this call. It is not an assignment I take lightly. I have a mission far greater than the provision supplied by my husband's paycheck and a few CD sales. I have an assignment bigger than me, but not too big for my God. As it turns out, His question led me to a moment a few weeks ago that unveiled a new phase of ministry for us. It is time for the watchmen to arise. It is time for this Leader of Watchmen to step into place.
A New Phase of Ministry: Watchmen Arise International
Many of you are familiar with my song "Watchmen Arise" from our Tip the Bowls album. For several months I have been pondering doing "Watchmen Arise" conferences to train intercessors and encourage them in the midst of battle. Many, many times the Lord uses this song during intercessory worship meetings to stir up intercessors and to minister to them. He's been speaking to me that the intercessors need support. Many are burdened, yoked improperly and operating in superstitious methods of prayer. Feeling His burden, I've been longing to minister to them. Then on the morning of August 1 the Lord spoke to me:
There's a new breed of intercessors coming. Do you want to lead them? The old structure of prayer is being dismantled and remantled for this day and age. Shaking and dislodging of false mindsets must take place. My intercessors are not healthy. Enemy tactics have infiltrated the system. Its time for restructuring. Will you lead a movement? Will you answer this call?
Of course I said yes! As the day progressed, the Lord revealed to me that "Watchmen Arise" is a ministry in and of itself and that it is time to start having monthly meetings in Lakeland starting in October 2009. I see one day workshops that include teaching from seasoned intercessors, prophetic intercessory worship time with a debriefing segment, and personal ministry to each attendee. This is a ministry to and for intercessors.
What's Next?
I am in the process of securing a location for the meetings. Several churches in Lakeland are on board with this vision and want to help support our prayer warriors. This is where you come in. I need funds to get this ministry incorporated and set up as its own 501(c)3, and cover the cost of the initial meeting in October. I need room rent, honorarium and hotel money for the guest speaker, and lunch expenses covered.
Please pray about your involvement in this new venture! Will you help me walk worthy?
