Photograph & Paint Nature

Every thing in nature is a work of art waiting to be exaggerated. With our cameras we will amplify light, color and pattern to create abstractions. With the use of these photographs as inspiration, abstract paintings will be molded, tweeked...SPOKEN.

Art Field Trips & The Artist's Way
artists way street

Inspiration is at the heart of every beautiful, meaningful art piece. Author of The Artist's Way, Julia Cameron, asserts that artists must "fill their well" in order to find this sugary smile inside that brings us to our studios full of joy, ready to create!

How do we fill the well? By breathing, viewing, smelling, touching real life.  We can allow everday stimuli to become magical experiences that sink in on a sensual level. Getting in touch with our senses is the gateway to this elation, this contemplation, and finally this EXPRESSION OF OURSELVES.  When our visual senses and unique thinking process are stimulated, we become prepared  for THE PAGE.  In this class you will bring your most exalted art supplies (i.e. sketchpad, camera, embroidery string, laptop for writing, guitar, paints...whatever gets you enlivened)  and join the action of Austin.  Integrating a study of The Artist's Way principles along the way,  6 varied field trips will allow us to fill our well, preparing us to make drawings, photographs, song, poems, collages or any art form on location. In this way, you will begin to fully delight in the journey of an artist.
