FMSC meals to be distributed in Burma/Myanmar
Media airwaves have recently been consumed with stories of cyclone-ravaged Burma/Myanmar, the Southeast Asian country where upwards of 100,000 people were killed or are missing and 2 million were left homeless in May.
Through a partnership with Missouri-based Convoy of Hope, a domestic and international mission organization, more than 1 million Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) meals will reach those affected by the cyclone.
"This will be a longer-term relief effort due to an almost total loss of crop in the rice-growing region," said Kenton Moody, International Director for Convoy of Hope.
This immediate response to an international disaster would not be possible without the continued dedication of FMSC food-packing volunteers.
"When it comes to touching the poor, Feed My Starving Children is one of Convoy of Hope's most valuable partners," Moody said. "Working together, we have been able to feed tens of thousands of people around the world." Emergency donation appeal seeks to fill recent meal price gap 
Due to rising food and fuel costs, each Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) meal now costs 17 cents, a 2-cent increase from the 15-cent meal cost FMSC held for the past 5 years.
While many FMSC production costs have increased, the price of rice has increased most dramatically. Just 90 days ago, one 2,000-pound bag of rice cost $370. Today, that bag costs $700-and could soon cost $900.
The 2-cent meal price difference adds up to a $1.1 million deficit in FMSC's 2008 budget for 55 million meals.
