  • October - A Month of Change

October is a very unsettled month as many planets are changing signs in October and Saturn’s Transit over gandanta degrees(read article on Gandanta from September 06 newsletter- it is on the website) Rahu Ketu, Jupiter and Saturn all move into different signs and therefore we are likely to feel unsure. With so much change around, it will be difficult to find equilibrium. The best way to deal with this all is to stay calm, not to make decisions unless you have to and appreciate the changing quality of time

Brihaspati, The Myth of Pushkara and the Pushkara Navamsha
    pushkar view

Pushkara navamshas are special navamshas that enhance the quality of the planet. Pushkara bhagas are special degrees, which bring good luck and auspicious energy to the chart. Push means to nourish and kara means who does or what causes. So pushkara navamsha nourishes the quality of the planet placed within it. Pushkara are not given in many texts. They form the secret part of Vedic astrology in which when you dig deep, you come up with gems of analysis. Chandra Kala Nadi, Jataka Parijata have a few shlokas that mention them. Their importance is understood through understanding the myth of Pushkara and its relationship with the creator Brahma and Brihaspati (Jupiter). Picture of Pushkara in Rajasthan

    Relationships in Vedic Astrology

Vedic Astrology pays great importance to relationships and there are many techniques for compatibility. Traditionally in India, the parents arranged marriages. One of the most important factors which, helped in making the marriages successful was the comparing of the birth charts of couple by the family astrologer. Marriage could only go ahead after the astrologers was satisfied with the compatibility. The Kuta system of compatibility is used mostly and it has a complicated set of rules that matches the charts on sexual, spiritual and emotional level. It has twelve points of compatibility.

21 October 2006 -Diwali- the Light within Spiritual Darkness.
    navagraha, london

The New Moon on 21 October 2006 in the month of Kartika month (New moon in Libra) is considered very auspicious by Indians and is celebrated as Diwali, the festival of lights. Prayers are held for Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth to facilitate the good financial energies. This time of the year people pray for direction and abundance in material matters. Diwali also represents a point in life where we begin searching for our spiritual light. When the darkness of materialism encase the soul, the light shows the path to inner light. On 19th October 2006, Ashwini Krishna Trayodashi, a few days before diwali is the celebration of Dhanteras, that heralds the coming of Dhanvantri- the god of Ayurveda. Dhan means wealth and teras is short for Trayodhasi, the 13th day of the tithi of the lunar month. Traditionally Dhanteras is an auspicoius day where the people wait for arrival of Laxmi, the goddess of wealth. Those involved in the material life tend to think of this wealth in terms of money and the house is decorated to invite Laxmi into their houses. The real meaning of dhan is spiritual wealth and Man's aspiration for Amrita, the real wealth. Amrita is the nectar of immortality which allows the soul to let go of the shackles of this material life. Dhanteras heralds the coming of Laxmi and Dhanvantri, it is part of the diwali celebrations.
