New book by Geraldson member
Ellen Jaffe Jones
Book cover Eat Vegan on $4 a Day

The St. Petersburg Times recently featured one of our charter members Ellen Jaffe Jones on the cover of the weekend magazine, "Personal Best"

Ellen's new book, "Eat Vegan on $4 a Day," is already in its third printing after only 4 months in print. Ellen's publisher says it is their #1 seller, and her book tour includes food festivals in Toronto, Boston, Orlando and New York.

The book gives all kinds of tips to eat a balanced plant-rich diet to save money and eat healthy, even if you don't want to be a full-time vegetarian. She crunches the numbers on how much you save by exchanging a few meat meals a week for vegetarian options. Read more...

Training Opportunities for
Beginning Farmers

The Florida West coast RC&D has received funding for 5 "traditionally underserved" producers to attend the 21st annual Practical Tools and Solutions for Sustaining Family Farms conference in Little Rock, Arkansas in 2012. Reply to this e-mail for more information on the scholarships - which include travel and lodging.

Beginning Farmer Logo We have scholarship applications available for the 2012 Beginning Farmer and Rancher Conference in February 18-20 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The Beginning Farmers and Ranchers Conference provides an opportunity for farmers to meet and learn from experts and to network with other farmers from around the country. Contact  Jacob Leech to get an application.
There is a lot going on at our community farms - if you are not a member already, come join us - you'll be glad you did!
