Greetings!

Every month in this newsletter we will have information to help you get the most out of your ribbon printer. There will always be information on how to use the software (See Design & Print Learning below) and there may be answers to common questions we've received throughout the month. It's even possible there will be new design ideas to help you grow your business. You just never know what will be included. So make sure to open each on and check it out. They will alway be short and to the point since everyone is so busy.
Is Your Ribbon Drifting?
Does your ribbon drift to the right sometimes when you are printing? Why does that happen and what can you do about it? Read on.Drifting Ribbon
Understandably we all try to get as much out of our foils as possible. There are many ways to accomplish this including flipping the foil, using a multi-ribbon adapter, or repositioning a narrow ribbon adapter. (If you are not aware of how to do this, Click Here.)

This drifting will happen with some rolls more than others and is completely due to the way the foil is rolling onto the uptake cardboard core. There are two areas to work with to prevent this.

If you are adhering the foil to an empty core, make sure you tape it on perfectly straight so that the foil rolls in line with the end of the cores. If it is offset even the slightest bit, you will begin to see drifting after a number of repeat prints. Re-taping of the foil is done when you have a new roll of foil and also if you cut a roll because it is getting too fat for the uptake core to easily move. (Note: We cut our foil to 165 ft/55 yds intentionally because longer ones tend to bulk up too much and jam the printer.)

Secondly, if you are flipping the foils, make sure to tap down the foils to realign them so they are flush with the cardboard cores. We find the easiest way to do this is to have the foil out of the printer and placed on a flat surface. Just tap down on both sides to shift the foil back into alignment with the cores. Then tighten up both sides and reinsert the foil into the printer.

Doing these two things should resolve any drifting issue you may have.

All About Editing

EDITING TEXT - Select the text to be edited by making sure a box with little red squares surrounds the type, then right click, select edit text, and the text box will reappear for your adjustments.

EDITING DESIGN SIZE - The small red diamond in the uper left corner of the Design Board actually has a urpose. Click on it and you will gget back to the initial screen where you can select your ribbon size and length. If you are in the middle of a project, all your work will be retained as you change the ribbon dimensions. This is a great tool for using the same design for multiple applications. For examle, you can use a design for invitation ribbons, favor bows, and flower embellishments all from the same design.
Please let us know if there are specific topics you'd like to see covered. This is your space to ask, learn, and share.

Happy Printing!
