Dear Friends and Neighbors,
As the Holidays and the New Year approach, I know
that what is really on everyone’s minds is
the 2007 General Assembly Session! Well, even if
that is not entirely the case, the 2007 Session is
just around the corner and I want to hear about the
issues that are important to you and our community.
Please join me for a pre-Session Town
Hall meeting on Monday, December 11th at Frost
Middle School. The event will take
place from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. To help start the
dialogue, I will be providing a quick overview of
issues that are likely to come before the General
Assembly as well as some of the bills that I will be
introducing.
I am very pleased that I will be joined by Heidi
Dix, Virginia’s Assistant Secretary of Health
and Human Resources. As we all know, the cost of
health care in Virginia is rising much faster than
inflation. Today, over 15% of Virginians are
uninsured and Medicaid is among the fastest growing
parts of our State Budget. It is an issue that
affects each and every one of us and is the subject
of several legislative studies. Ms. Dix has
extensive experience in health care policy and will
provide an overview of not only our challenges, but
Virginia’s efforts to make health care more
affordable and accessible.
Finally, don’t forget that
Saturday, December 9th will be my last informal
office hours of the year. I will be at
Main Street Bagel from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Come
join me to chat about issues and to have a cup of
coffee.
I look forward to seeing you there! As always
please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of
assistance.
Sincerely,
David Bulova
