Death and Lies on Day One of the 2012 Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo
| |
Dear Friends,
SHARK has arrived in Cheyenne, Wyoming, for the 2012 Cheyenne Frontier Days (CFD) Rodeo. We will be here for the next two weeks documenting the horror, violence, and death that is part and parcel of this brutal rodeo.
On the first day of the rodeo, yesterday, Wednesday, July 18, two calves and three steers were so badly injured that they had to be carted away from the arena. There were more injuries as well.
This steer was the fifth victim of the day to be carted away. This animal had his right rear leg broken, and the break was clearly audible across the arena. Riders responded, but were kept away by the timed event judge, who chooses to allow the victim to suffer long enough for the contestant to get a score.
 |
Even though the animal had his leg broken, and was dragged across the dirt, the rodeo thug ties him up anyway.
|
 |
Even more cruelty committed against this suffering animal.
|
At 1:08 (see video below), the rodeo announcer does what he has done for the other victims carted out of the arena; he says that the steer is going to be taken care of, when the truth is the steer will be killed. This is the world of rodeo. |

TAKE ACTION!
Throughout the next two weeks, we will be focusing in on the sponsors of the CFD rodeo, and calling them out for the cruelty they sponsor.
Today we focus in on Coca-Cola.
Please write to Coca-Cola and politely ask that they withdraw from the Cheyenne Frontier Days rodeo. Also ask that they find out what happened to all of the animals that were injured.
The following emails are all associated with the leadership of Coca-Cola. You can copy and paste them all in one email. Please be polite and respectful.

"Kindness and compassion towards all living beings is a mark of a civilized society. Racism, economic deprival, dog fighting and cock fighting, bullfighting and rodeos are all cut from the same fabric: violence. Only when we have become nonviolent towards all life will we have learned to live well ourselves." - Cesar Chavez, civil rights and labor leader, founder of the United Farm Workers
