SHARK Press Conference Exposing Reno Rodeo a Success!
Dear Friends,

When SHARK released video of nine horses being electro-shocked by thugs at the Reno Rodeo, both the rodeo and the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) fell over themselves to come up with excuses and to try to save face.

Last Friday, however, their efforts went up in flames when we flew into Reno, Nevada, and held a well-attended press conference where we released many more clips of horses being shocked, so much so that it was clear that everyone from the riders to the chute boss to the PRCA judges all knew exactly what was going on.

One of the disgusting tactics we uncovered was that the rodeo thugs had hidden an electro-shocking device inside of a yellow glove. They probably never thought anyone would know.

A 10,000 volt "Hot Shot" device hidden in the right glove.  The device was activated with the left hand, with the wires most likely snaked through the sleeve.

In this next set of pictures, you can see the device in action, and the pain caused to the horse as he gets hit with the electric shock.

Here

That they went to such lengths to hide their shocking says everything about how cruel and torturous rodeos are. And they would have gotten away with it if not for SHARK.

Double Shocked: For this horse, two shocking devices were used (the one hidden in the glove and the device in the second guy's hand). Note also how the PRCA judge (far right) were right there and knew what was happening.

Here are just a few of the many media outlets where this story was covered:

Reno Gazette-Journal Editorial on Abuse at the Reno Rodeo
The Reno Gazette-Journal, the largest newspaper in Reno, published an editorial yesterday about electro-shocking at the Reno Rodeo. From the editorial:

"Now it's critical that they take seriously the allegations made last week by the group Showing Animals Respect and Kindness that workers at this year's event in June violated that rodeo's own rules by routinely shocking horses to make them jump and buck. If the accusations are true, the rodeo must take firm action to punish those involved and ensure that it doesn't happen again."

A Horse Violently Roped at an Oregon Rodeo

In the wake of SHARK's video exposing the brutal and violent Jordan Valley Big Loop Rodeo in Oregon, the debate to ban horse tripping has been reignited.

Now, the editorial board of the Oregonian has come out in favor of legislation banning horse tripping!
