Operation Bright Light Exposes Another Broxton Bridge Plantation Patron: Richard P. Torykian

Dear Friends,

When SHARK initiated a campaign against the illegal live pigeon shoots held at the Broxton Bridge Plantation in South Carolina, we promised that we would expose those who patronized the plantation. Today, we reveal another person who was there at the horrific shoot.

Meet Richard P. Torykian who was a member of the American Defense Systems Inc. (ADSI) Board of Directors from 2007-2012. ADSI is a government contractor that has received millions of taxpayer dollars in military contracts in what appears to be 'pay-to-play' donations to NY Congressman Peter King. Read our full report

here.

The Broxton Bridge Plantation owners, their hired goons, and their patrons probably thought that SHARK would fade away after some time had passed. What they didn't count on was a simple truth: we will never forget the thousands of innocent animals that were slaughtered, and we don't cut and run from a fight.

                          Exposing Animal Cruelty and Corruption

SHARK has been busy uploading more videos exposing animal cruelty and the corruption that allows it to continue.

What kind of people wear masks and cover their license plates so they can abuse animals for fun? The answer is pigeon shooters of course, and in South Carolina, Governor Nikki Haley is on the side of the law breaking animal abusers!

"Cop Whores" in Colleton County, South Carolina where police are paid NOT to enforce the law, but to instead protect cruel, wealthy, well-connected lawbreakers. SHARK respects good, dedicated law enforcement professionals. It is our respect for the good ones that makes us incensed at those who are corrupt. Bad cops make the jobs of good cops more difficult.

What You Can Do:
Please contact Governor Nikki Haley again and politely insist she enforce the South Carolina Humane Laws.

YMCA Response to Taking Children to Rodeo

This is the YMCA's version of "teach your children well?"

The YMCA claims to be guided by four core values: Caring, Honesty, Respect & Responsibility.

SHARK asked the YMCA why is it they are allowing children to be taken to see animals terrorized, injured and killed?

See their outrageous responses in this video:

Palm Springs Gay Rodeo Protest

On Saturday, May 5th from 2-6 pm, the group Advancing the Interests of Animals (AIA) protested the Palm Springs Gay Rodeo in Palm Springs, CA. SHARK is very appreciative of AIA's dedication, hard work and subsequent success on behalf of the victims of rodeo, and we encourage activists nationwide to do the same. Here is a link to SHARK's Rodeo Flyer that you can download and print.

It is unfortunate that a group of people (LBGT) that have been subjected to prejudice, intimidation and outright violence themselves have a small faction that turns around and perpetrates abuse to others.

Here is AIA's summary of their rodeo protest:

We were met by two men on an ATV who asked us to leave the property where we were protesting, but we didn't.

One of the security guys on the ATV did a burnout in the dirt which sprayed all of us with dirt.

Fortunately, this rodeo was not well attended.

One of the beneficiaries of this rodeo is a local animal shelter - "Paws & Hearts" (P&H). AIA did send an email to P&H stating that we were not supportive of their involvement with the Palm Springs Gay Rodeo.

SHARK also sent a letter to P&H, stating that while we support their mission, we can't support the involvement of an humane organization with a violent organization that abuses animals. A phone conversation with SHARK President Steve Hindi and P&H Executive Director Richard Waxman followed. Mr. Waxman decided P&H would not take the money from the rodeo. See the letter here:

SHARK is glad that P&H did the right thing for all of the animals.
Rodeo Scholarship Recipient Steals Cows

In Oklahoma, a Connors State College student on a rodeo scholarship is in the Muskogee County jail after his arrest for allegedly stealing cattle from the school and selling them.

Officers with the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association arrested Artrell Carmouche, 23, of Humble, Texas on a warrant issued earlier this month.

According to court records, Carmouche is accused of stealing five cows from the school and taking them to a sale barn in Bristow and selling them for approximately $5,400.

He is charged with one count of larceny of domestic animals.

Carmouche, who now lives in Beggs, was arrested Monday and taken to jail. Bond is set at $5,000.

"Kindness and compassion towards all living beings is a mark of a civilized society.   Racism, economic deprival, dog fighting and cock fighting, bullfighting and rodeos are all cut from the same fabric: violence.   Only when we have become nonviolent towards all life will we have learned to live well ourselves."   - Cesar Chavez, civil rights and labor leader, founder of the United Farm Workers
