Dear Friends,The following press statement was released to Philadelphia-area media today:
Humane Society Police Officer Johnna Seeton filed five citations for ill-treatment of animals against the Philadelphia Gun Club (PGC), located at 3051 State Road, in Bensalem, Pennsylvania in Bucks County.
Officer Seeton resides in Harrisburg, and is affiliated with the Pennsylvania Legislative Animal Network (PLAN).
The first citation stems from a live pigeon shoot held at the PGC on March 17, 2012. The other four citations stem from a PGC live pigeon shoot held on March 31, 2012.
Each citation represents a pigeon wounded by people involved with the PGC and retrieved alive by members of SHowing Animals Respect and Kindness (SHARK). SHARK personnel were in boats on the Delaware River which borders PGC property.
Officer Seeton filed a similar charge against the PGC in 2010, again after a wounded pigeon was retrieved by a member of SHARK who was in a boat.
In the 2010 case, Bucks County District Attorney David Heckler, who publicly scoffed at the cruelty charge, brokered a private arrangement for the PGC to evade the citation by making a small donation to a local humane society. The arrangement was condemned by the humane community, including Humane Officer Seeton and SHARK.

Please contact District Attorney David Heckler and politely insist he do his job this time and prosecute PGC for the five citations in violation of Pennsylvania Humane Laws.
