PGC Cowards Strike Again - SHARK Responds! Twenty One Victims Recovered, Four Still Alive
| |
DEAR FRIENDS,
Last Saturday, March 30, 2012, the sick, twisted membership of the Philadelphia Gun Club (PGC) held another live pigeon shoot. Pigeon shoots are horrendous events where exhausted and frightened birds are put into small wooden boxes then hit with an electric shock as they are launched into the air and shot.
In response, SHARK launched two boats, the Guppy and the Blowfish, to document the cruelty and recover as many birds as possible.

Also present were three boats from the Delaware River Keeper, an environmental protection organization. River Keeper personnel were there to collect evidence for a federal lawsuit they just filed against the PGC for water pollution. More on that in the next article.
As with previous shoots at the PGC, there was a steady rain of gunshot pellets, shotgun shell casings and dead and wounded pigeons hitting the water. Last Saturday, as with every other PGC shoot, the club polluted the river and committed horrendous acts of animal cruelty in violation of Pennsylvania Humane Laws.
A new gas powered engine on our inflatable boat gave us the speed we needed to get to birds ahead of the PGC boats.

Having replaced its electric motor with a gasoline outboard engine, the Blowfish (right) is about to scream past the PGC's boat to rescue a downed pigeon. SHARK now rules the water outside the PGC
|
The PGC had two boats on the river Saturday, but neither was a match for our newly equipped Blowfish. One of them was larger than our boats, and it at one point bumped our inflatable. If the skipper of the PGC boat thought we would be intimidated, he quickly found out how mistaken he was.
The PGC's other boat was a kayak, with a stooge wearing a Pennsylvania Flyers Association hat. Interestingly, that guy tried to tell us he wasn't a pigeon shooter. Sure - that's why he was wearing a pigeon shooter's hat! Besides being cowardly animal abusers, these guys are habitual liars.
The PGC posted armed thugs on either side of their property shooting at birds that escaped the killing field. Again, those thugs shot toward us, but it didn't stop us from mounting multiple rescue missions to save injured birds that fell

| into the river and along the river bank. A SHARK investigator was posted at the front entrance of the PGC to record the faces and license plates of members entering and leaving the slaughter.
Among the sludge of the human gene pool in attendance was New Jersey attorney Richard J. Shackleton.
You may recall Shackleton as the creep who shouted a vile obscenity at Philadelphia activist Marianne Bessey in 2010.
Here is a link to a 2010 article exposing Shackleton's disgusting behavior.
There are many wealthy and powerful members of the PGC and SHARK is going to focus on these 1 percenters in the coming weeks.

Seventeen victims were retrieved, but did not survive.

Delaware River Keeper Files Lawsuit Against PGC
|
|
In a move much applauded by SHARK, the Delaware River Keeper - an environmental protection organization - has filed a lawsuit against the PGC in federal court, accusing the PGC of polluting the Delaware River.

Three victims of the PGC's wanton cruelty
|
This from the DRK press release:
"This is a case of illegal water pollution, pure and simple"continues van Rossum, "But for many it is also a moral issue over how we value and treat the health of our River, whether we respect the safety of those enjoying the River, and for how we are treating defenseless birds who are subjected to unspeakable cruelty as a result of the ongoing events."
The SHARK team met the River Keeper team on Saturday, and we were very impressed with their spirit and dedication. We are very excited that there is a new and serious entity in the fight to protect the environment and our precious nonhuman friends.

Yesterday, we had a long conversation with the Coast Guard. More on that in a future update, but one thing that came out of it was that it is the local police who should be dealing with the PGC gunmen who are firing at us from the shore.
Please contact the Bensalem Police and politely demand that they take action against the PGC shooters who have been firing at us. Tell them that it's their responsibility and they must take action. Both the Bensalem Mayor and Police have refused to take any action for more than two years. It is time for them to either do their jobs or resign!

"Kindness and compassion towards all living beings is a mark of a civilized society. Racism, economic deprival, dog fighting and cock fighting, bullfighting and rodeos are all cut from the same fabric: violence. Only when we have become nonviolent towards all life will we have learned to live well ourselves." - Cesar Chavez, civil rights and labor leader, founder of the United Farm Workers
