SHARK Challenges Field and Stream

DEAR FRIENDS,

When Field and Stream published a blog advocating for the shooting down of SHARK's remote controlled aircraft, we contacted the editors and owners of the magazine - and have heard nothing.

Seems the author, Chad Love, is a tough guy when hiding behind the keyboard of his computer, but does he have the courage to face SHARK and debate the issue of pigeon shooting?  Let's find out.

SHARK just uploaded a YouTube video challenging Chad Love to a debate. We'll post the YouTube link in the comment section of the Field and Stream article he wrote and we'll see if he responds, or if we need to change the name of that magazine to Yield and Scream, because that's exactly what cowards do.

Rodeo Criminals Accused of Crimes against Humans, Non-Humans

There are two rodeo related stories we want to share with you.

The first involves a man who was working at the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo, and who is accused of the heinous rape and kidnapping of a former girlfriend. Glenn Leo Gagnon was arrested and is awaiting extradition back to Arizona. You can read the horrifying story HERE.

The second is about Wade Steffen, a member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) who is facing federal charges of trafficking in rhinoceros horns. Seems abusing bulls, steers and calves wasn't enough for Wade; in this case, he was helping to wipe out an entire species of animals, as rhino's are endangered.

"Illegal poaching of rhinos is a cruel and inhumane practice that threatens the very existence of this magnificent African species," Andre Birotte Jr., the U.S. attorney in Los Angeles, said in a statement. "Smugglers are an integral part of this international criminal chain, which is why we continue to target traffickers in the United States who support a heinous industry."

You can read the rest of that story in this Boston Herald article.

From the LA Times:

The undercover operation was forced into the open when accused trafficker Wade Steffen of Hico, Texas, and his wife and mother were stopped by Transportation Security Administration officials at Long Beach Airport on Feb. 9 with $337,000 in their carry-on luggage, authorities said. A TSA officer found $20,000 in $100-bill bundles in Molly Steffen's purse. "That money is not mine," Molly Steffen said, according to a federal affidavit. "I assume my husband put it in my purse."

Merrily Steffen, the mother, allowed officers to view the pictures on the memory card of a camera she was carrying, according to the affidavit. It contained images of "stacks of $100 bills bound with rubber bands" and "rhinoceros horns being weighed on scales."

Wade Steffen is incarcerated in Texas. Neither his wife nor his mother was arrested.

Nice to see his family sticking up for Wade!

You can read more about Steffen on our Cowboy Criminals website HERE.

Keep Pressure on "The Price is Right"

Please continue to politely write CBS and tell them you are appalled that "The Price is Right" supported and promoted violent and disgraceful cruelty by giving away tickets to the Calgary Stampede Rodeo

CNN International Promotes Rodeo

CNN International, in an online article titled "10 classic American experiences," lists rodeo #1 and includes a link to the PRCA. With the aforementioned stories in mind, CNN International's promotion of rodeos is especially shameful.

In case you think this may be the work of an objective journalist, forget it. The author, Jennings Brown, works for Cowboys & Indians magazine and has written articles promoting rodeo, including Rodeo You Can't Resist.

You can leave a comment on the article page HERE. You may want to share some of SHARK's videos showing how brutal and ugly rodeos are.

"Kindness and compassion towards all living beings is a mark of a civilized society.   Racism, economic deprival, dog fighting and cock fighting, bullfighting and rodeos are all cut from the same fabric: violence.   Only when we have become nonviolent towards all life will we have learned to live well ourselves."   - Cesar Chavez, civil rights and labor leader, founder of the United Farm Workers
