Operation Bright Light Exposes Another Pigeon Shooter

DEAR FRIENDS,

Recently the Philadelphia Gun Club (PGC) restarted live pigeon shoots.  The club's cruel, rich and profoundly arrogant members literally built a fortress around their property to keep SHARK away.  It didn't work.

The club installed an electric gate, which seems odd since we never went on club property.  The gate forces each car to stop, and gives us a wonderful opportunity to film people as they enter and leave.  One of those we caught leaving was this guy - Jordan Irving (right).
Jordan Irving. Treasurer of the Philadelphia Gun Club.

What brought attention to Irving was the special effort to hide him as he left the club.  Just as Irving was about to drive off PGC property, a SUV pulled in front of our photographer and yelled out a slur.

The driver tried to distract us, but it didn't.  Our camera captured Irving anyway.  What happened next was even stranger; Irving and the interloper stopped at a nearby intersection while the light was still green so someone could get out of one vehicle and into the other. This was a dangerous move and led to a bunch of cars being forced to suddenly stop while the exchange took place.  We have it all on video and will be uploading it to YouTube soon.

Roberta was shot and left to die on the rocks below the PGC. SHARK rescued this beautiful bird and got her to safety. This cruelty is what Jordan Irving supports as a PGC officer.

Irving is not just an attendee at pigeon shoots - but according to the latest IRS form available, he's the "Principal Officer" and Treasurer of the PGC itself.  This makes him especially offensive and no different from PGC President Leo Holt.

Holt, as you may recall, can be seen in this video treating wounded pigeons in a truly ugly and grotesque way.

Irving is "managing director at Irving Magee Investment Management LLC in Philadelphia." According to this article, "Michigan Municipal Employees' Retirement System, Lansing, acquired a 30% ownership stake in emerging manager Irving Magee Investment Management...." And "Mr. Irving said the system is the firm's only client."

We wonder what the Michigan Municipal Employees' Retirement System (MERS) has to say about partnering with someone who is so connected to the absolutely horrific and disgusting animal cruelty that happens at the PGC.

If you'd like to know, then you might consider contacting MERS and politely asking them.

If you'd like to see another picture of Irving, then click on
this link to download a PDF of Emerging Manager Monthly and go to page 9. Yes, he even looks like more of a tool there than in the pictures we took.

The PGC pigeon shooters can hide and they can run...but we'll catch them anyway, just like we did with Jordan Irving.

New Videos:

Tower Shoot Cowards and the Sacrifice of One Innocent Pigeon

SHARK has released two new YouTube videos on pigeon shoots.  The first is from the truly monstrous "Tower Shoot" held at the Wing Pointe canned hunting dump on October 13th.

In that video you will see real bottom of the barrel pigeon shooters in an all out massacre, including the kicking of wounded and exhausted birds.  Watch that video HERE.

The second video focuses on one pigeon who, during a shoot at Wing Pointe earlier this year, though mortally wounded, flew right to our cameraman and landed at his feet.  She died seconds later.

Though dying with each step she took, this brave bird flew from the killing fields to our cameraman, where her sacrifice was recorded and remembered.

Her sacrifice and strength were incredible. it is our hope that you will pass this video on to anyone who lives in Pennsylvania, so that they may see the bravery shown by this bird, and be charged to act in her memory.

The first day this video was up on YouTube, it received an amazing four thousand views. Apparently frightened by this video, someone reported it and it was then age restricted, meaning you can only view it if you have a YouTube account.

This was one of the reasons why SHARK created accounts on numerous video hosting sites, so that YouTube censorship would not hold us back.  You can watch it either on YouTube HERE, or without restrictions HERE.

SHARKS Challenges New Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo Stock Contractor for a Sit Down

SHARK sent a letter to Smith Pro Rodeos, the new stock contractor for the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo.  The following are selected parts of that letter. We have not heard back from them, so we suspect that they may continue the long, cruel tradition of animal abuse at the annual rodeo

Dear Mr. Smith,

As you may know, we [SHARK] have been documenting livestock abuses, injuries, and deaths at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo (CFD) for several years during the tenure of the Harry Vold Rodeo Co., which your company will be replacing in 2012.  Although they've witnessed it in real time, we've presented this video evidence to the CFD Committee numerous times asking them to put the animals' welfare first, before their bottom dollar line, and received little but the scripted response that they are in agreement with all of the PRCA rules for the humane treatment of animals, which our documentation clearly shows being violated time and again.

This baby calf was severely injured at the 2011 Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo. She had to be carted out of the arena, most likely to her death.

We'd like to believe more change for the better treatment of animals will begin at CFD this coming July with the ouster of Vold's company. However, if steer busting, calf jerk-downs, rookie saddle bronc and the wild horse race are still on the schedule, we know that will not be the case.

That thought leads me to propose to you that which the PRCA and the Volds have repeatedly ignored, a sit-down talk.

The choice is now yours, Mr. Smith. I sincerely hope you'll meet with me; and continuing my note of good faith and desire for transparency, please be advised SHARK will also publish your response in order to keep the public informed.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours truly,

Steve Hindi, President

Fighting for New Jersey's Bears

On November 14th, the Animal Protection League of New Jersey (APLNJ) and the Bear Education and Resource Group (BEAR) held a protest at the office of the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife to protest the forthcoming black bear hunt. More than 80 people attended.

SHARK Investigator Stu Chaifetz, who has fought against hunting in New Jersey for 20 years, spoke at the protest.  Y
NJ Governor Chris Christie is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of black bears just like this one.

ou can view the media coverage HERE.

Last year, SHARK produced a ground breaking expos into possible violations of NJ election law by a pro-hunting political action committee and the Chris Christie for Governor campaign.  Our report is currently under investigation by the NJ Election Law Commission, who found our argument so strong that they voted unanimously for a full examination of the facts.

Kindest Regards,

Steve Hindi and Your SHARK Team
