A Call to Action: The Critical Role You Play in Saving Animals

SHARK is comprised of a small group of highly dedicated activists willing to take on unique campaigns in our struggle to end animal abuse. If you've been reading our newsletters and watching our videos, you already know what I mean.

We are currently engaged in a number of serious campaigns, and hope to take on even more as we press forward. This is where you come in, and the reason for this plea.

Shackelton Smirk 1
Richard Shackleton. He wasn't smiling after the video taken by a local volunteer exposed his ugly statements and helped garner massive media attention.
SHARK is seeking activists from New Jersey and Pennsylvania who can join with us on local protests and actions.  We need people we can count on, for without them (and you) we cannot accomplish our mission to save animal lives

Remember when we showed up at a New Jersey town meeting and exposed vile pigeon shooter Richard Shackleton for his hateful rant against a woman? That would not have worked as it did if not for a local activist who came out and filmed the event.  There are many similar instances where one or two local people made the difference between success and failure.

Next week, we are planning on going to Parsippany, NJ, to show video of rodeo cruelty at the headquarters of Wyndham Worldwide (parent company of the Super 8 Hotel chain that is sponsoring rodeos). If you are free during the day and can help, please let us know.

We won't be calling on you all the time, but when we do, we hope you will rise and band together with us as we fight for animals. The more people willing to lend a hand, the more we change we can make.

If you are ready to go that extra mile for the animals, we want to hear from you.  Please either call our NJ coordinator at 856 428 2635 or email us at media@sharkonline.org

Our friends at the International Movement Against Bullfights have sent out an alert regarding the return of bullfighting to Algeria since their independence from France.

Please send a polite email to the following asking them not to hold bullfights in their country. Assure them this will hurt tourism - not help it.

The Prime Minister, Mr Ahmed Ouyahia, is only available

"Kindness and compassion towards all living beings is a mark of a civilized society.   Racism, economic deprival, dog fighting and cock fighting, bullfighting and rodeos are all cut from the same fabric: violence.   Only when we have become nonviolent towards all life will we have learned to live well ourselves."   - Cesar Chavez, civil rights and labor leader, founder of the United Farm Workers
