Super 8 Hotels Sponsors Rodeo Cruelty

The Super 8 hotel chain has announced that they are sponsoring both the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) and the Women's Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA), so they have doubled down on their sponsorship of animal cruelty.

The PRCA is the front group that desperately tries to mask the brutal nature of rodeos. Thanks to SHARK's numerous videos from PRCA sponsored rodeos, the public knows the truth: rodeos are violent, ugly and completely dishonorable. We haven't hidden our videos - in fact any PR firm looking to sponsor an event would at least do a Google search before they sign the contract. So we can safely assume Super 8 knew exactly what it was doing when it entered into this bloody agreement with the PRCA.

"The Super 8 hotel brand has a great history of supporting the passions and interests of our guests, which is why I couldn't be more excited to launch these newest sponsorships," said John Valletta, president of Super 8, in THIS press release. There are lots of good, positive things to be passionate about, but beating young calves into the dirty ground should not be one of them.

Take Action!

Prince of Pain: William Kills Again

Last July, Prince William showed his appreciation of animal abuse by attending the infamous Calgary Stampede Rodeo, where he and his wife enjoyed the abject cruelty that is inherent in these brutal events.

The Royal family is infamous for their love of killing and William has jumped right in, again, this time by buying 250 birds as a present for his brother's birthday.

According to THIS story, Prince Harry "...plans to celebrate his big day at a later date thanks to his brother William, who has bought 250 pheasant, duck and partridge for a shoot at their grandmother Queen Elizabeth's Sandringham Estate."

Rodeos, shooting cage raised birds; killing and cruelty just goes hand in hand with these guys.

This deviant behavior obviously isn't limited to the inbred royals of England; we have our own wannabe aristocracy right here in the USA.  Just look at the Philadelphia Gun Club (PGC), and how when they slaughter pigeons for fun they play dress-up and wear fancy clothes as they spill innocent blood, just as if they were in jolly old England.

Leo Holt: The empty stare of a man who enjoys killing small animals.

The irony is that shooters like Leo Holt, President of the PGC, and Prince William, have more in common than just enjoying slaughtering small defenseless animals; they both got their jobs because of their fathers. Seriously - I believe that if Leo Holt had not been handed his company, Holt Logistics, from his daddy (and from his daddy before that), and William not born to British royalty, they both would probably be sharing an empty cardboard box and cuddling for warmth on the long, cold rainy nights.

Nevada Offers Rodeo Vanity License Plates

Desperate for cash to shore up the foundering Nevada High School Rodeo Association, the State of Nevada is offering for sale personalized vanity plates that say "The Rodeo State" on them. Another desperate sign of the times for rodeos.

There is one major conflict with the plates.  On THIS page it says the following: "The Department of Motor Vehicles has the right to refuse any request for a personalized license plate that may carry connotations offensive to good taste and decency..."

Good taste and decency? Any plate that would glorify rodeos violates this clause and should shut down the entire program.

This is what the plate should really look like

"Celebrity" Hunter Tortures Ducks

Jeff Foiles, a hunter who makes commercial videotapes of his killing, pled guilty in Canada to six charges related to hunting trips between 2004 and 2007.

According to THIS story, in one of the videos, Foiles "...is seen holding up a wounded duck on camera, abusing the bird by wrenching its neck and manipulating its head so the duck is looking at him."

He also "...slaps the bird's head a couple of times," and, "Playing to the camera, Mr. Foiles opens the wounded ducks mouth several times and makes 'quacking' sounds."

Foiles also faces charges in the US for violations of federal wildlife laws.

This sick piece of garbage shows us the total disrespect for animals held by hunters. I'm willing to bet this type of torture and humiliation happens a lot more than anyone knows.

Kindest Regards,

"Kindness and compassion towards all living beings is a mark of a civilized society.   Racism, economic deprival, dog fighting and cock fighting, bullfighting and rodeos are all cut from the same fabric: violence.   Only when we have become nonviolent towards all life will we have learned to live well ourselves."   - Cesar Chavez, civil rights and labor leader, founder of the United Farm Workers
