Reno Rodeo Exposed for Shocking Horses

Dear Friends,

At the 2011 Reno, Nevada rodeo, SHARK found horses being shocked with the shock prod to make the horses buck and appear wild. One horse in particular was injured and bleeding at her mouth in the chute, but despite PRCA rules was still shocked to force her to buck.  See video below:

SHARK thanks Mark Brumbaugh for videotaping this rodeo and submitting the video to us to expose this cruelty, the worthless PRCA humane rules and the useless rodeo judges.

What You Can Do

Feel free to politely contact Governor Brian Sandoval and let him know what you think about the cruelty at rodeos in general and particularly the Reno Rodeo.

Amidst High Employment and Economic Collapse, WY to Spend at least $1.9 million to Host the National High School Rodeo Finals

After losing money, Springfield, Illinois and Farmington, New Mexico have both said - Thanks, but no thanks to hosting the National High School Rodeo Association Finals, but that is not going to stop the Rock Springs City Council which plans to host the rodeo in 2012 & 2013.

The following article in the Rock Springs Rocket-Miner states about $1.9 of a state grant will be spent for this endeavor.  Read entire article below:

ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. - Public officials in Sweetwater County have agreed to spend most of a $2.3 million state grant on the National High School Finals Rodeo.

The Rock Springs City Council unanimously passed an agreement with Green River and the county on how to spend the grant money.

Under the agreement, the Rock Springs Rocket-Miner reports about $1.9 million will be used to improve facilities that will host the national high school rodeo next year. At least $1.4 million will go toward improvements at the Sweetwater County Events Complex where the rodeo will be held.

Rock Springs will host the high school finals rodeo in 2012 and 2013.

With Wyoming's minimum wage at $5.15, the dismal economy, and lack of uninsured people needing medical assistance, SHARK is appalled that this money will instead go to sponsoring rodeo animal cruelty.

Citizens of Wyoming should be outraged and politely contacting their Governor Matt Mead to express their disgust.
