Cheyenne Rodeo is Over But Not Forgotten!
|
|
Dear Friends,
With the Cheyenne Frontier Days rodeo (CFD) over, and with barely a moment to breathe, we are now heading back to Pennsylvania this weekend for a major three-day long pigeon shoot at the Wing Pointe canned hunting resort.
Our team at CFD collected so much footage that we will continue to expose CFD rodeo cruelty for months to come. Our work is already having an effect against rodeos, as our new videos showing the barbaric violence committed there is being used by groups as far away as China, where an American rodeo is planned for October of this year. The ramifications of what CFD did to all those animals is going to be strong and long-lasting.
You can view all of the CFD videos on our YouTube channel here. You may also want to post the links of these videos to the Rodeo China Facebook page here. Politely let them know of the cruelty that is coming.
Please note in the following press release this Friday's focus on Berks County District Attorney John Adams. While we are on site filming the cruelty, make sure you give him a call and politely ask him to take action. If you can join us at Wing Pointe that weekend, or would like to participate in handing out flyers at other areas in PA, please email us media@sharkonline.org

Massive Three-Day Pigeon Shoot This Weekend!

Massive Three-Day Pigeon Shoot To Be Held August 5-7, 2011, in Berks County, PA
Friday, August 5th, to be Day of Action Against Berks County District Attorney John Adams
SHowing Animals Respect and Kindness (SHARK) is planning to video-document a massive three-day long pigeon shoot at the Wing Pointe canned hunting resort in Berks County this Friday through Sunday. SHARK, at previous shoots, has documented horrific cruelty at Wing Pointe, including a large pile of dead birds with still living pigeons in it. SHARK has also rescued more than two-dozen pigeons who were shot, wounded and left to die slow and painful deaths.
SHARK activists have also been subjected to violence and harassment while filming pigeon shoots at Wing Pointe. This includes:
SHARK's President Steve Hindi whipped in the head with a dog leash SHARK activist Janet Enoch assaulted by an angry pigeon shooter A racist rant by an out of control Wing Pointe person who also threw a bucket of water at Hindi A shooter at Wing Pointe also shot down one of our remote controlled video-helicopters
"Wing Pointe has done everything they could to try to stop us from exposing the violence and cruelty that they commit, but they have failed," states Hindi. "SHARK will continue to be on the frontline exposing pigeon shooting for the sick, twisted and barbaric act that it is."
Day of Action Against DA Adams Abandoning wounded pigeons to die slow, painful deaths clearly falls within the purview of Pennsylvania's animal cruelty laws as it would for any other animal. However, DA John Adams of Berks County, who has received campaign donations from pigeon shooters, has used his power to protect pigeon shooters from prosecution. Adams has not only personally withdrawn animal cruelty charges filed against a pigeon shoot, but has made it known that no charges will ever be allowed under his watch.
"When you take money from a special interest, and then safeguard that interest from prosecution, that's corruption," states Hindi. "When people see the horror committed this weekend, they need to know that it has the blessing and protection of DA Adams. This is why we are asking the public to politely contact Adam's office this Friday and ask that he allow cruelty charges to be filed."
SHARK has set up a special website focused on DA Adams with his contact information and related videos exposing pigeon shoot violence: www.callitcruelty.com

"Kindness and compassion towards all living beings is a mark of a civilized society. Racism, economic deprival, dog fighting and cock fighting, bullfighting and rodeos are all cut from the same fabric: violence. Only when we have become nonviolent towards all life will we have learned to live well ourselves." - Cesar Chavez, civil rights and labor leader, founder of the United Farm Workers
