Sheryl Crow Tries, Fails to Spin Hypocrisy

As we told you in our update from last update, Sheryl Crow's getting strong condemnation from SHARK and others in the animal protection community for performing at the cruel Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo.  Now Sheryl is trying to spin her way out of the controversy by donating a portion of her proceeds to The Cloud Foundation, a wild horse protection organization.

Media coverage of Crow's donation offer conveniently left out that she was only doing it under pressure.  SHARK wasn't about to let that stand. We contacted the AP, and explained Crow's real motivation. The AP, to its credit, ran another story two days later.

What were headlines reading "Sheryl Crow helps group fighting US horse roundup" before SHARK acted now read  "Sheryl Crow Criticized For Wild Horses Donation Following Rodeo Performance" and "Sheryl Crow a hypocrite, animal rights group says." The new story was carried on hundreds of news websites nationally and internationally.

Unfortunately, The Cloud Foundation - the beneficiary of Crow's donation, chose to provide her with public relations damage control.  When asked about the apparent contradiction of accepting money from the cruel Cheyenne Rodeo for the benefit of wild horses, The Cloud Foundation's Director Ginger Kathryns, inaccurately told the AP that "the Wild Horse Act prohibits the activity they're (SHARK) concerned about."

How it is possible that a Wild Horse Advocate doesn't understand the Wild and Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act?

The Act is riddled with loopholes that allow practically any cruelty against these animals.

As one who should know about the Wild and Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act, Ms. Kathryns should know the act states an adopter cannot SELL the horse for bucking stock, but the CFD wild horse race isn't a bucking event.  Additionally, the law doesn't say the adopter can't USE or LEASE the horse for bucking stock, but again, the CFD wild horse isn't a bucking event. Furthermore, after a year following the adoption and proof of care, the BLM sends the adopter a Certificate of Title, and that horse becomes the adopter's private property, which means the person can do whatever they want with that horse.

Unfortunately, The Cloud Foundation personnel care only about the horses they deal with.  Those that suffer abuse, injury and death at rodeos are apparently not their concern.

Wing Pointe Owner Running From Summons:

Run Slobfather, Run!

The Berks County Sheriff isn't able to spend as much time has he might like chasing criminals these days.  That's because he's chasing Joseph Solana, Jr. around with a summons to court because of the shootdown of SHARK's Angel aircraft last January.  Solana may look like a little old man to most people, but so far he's proving fleet-footed enough to elude the sheriff.

I think Solana considers himself to be some kind of half-baked Godfather in his (red)neck of the Pennsylvania backwoods.  He appears to wield undo influence with the police, district attorneys, and judges.  With impunity, he and his guests blast away at animals tossed out of boxes.  After someone on his property (and we think we know exactly who that someone is) shot down our Angel aircraft, Solana refused to return it.

Joseph Solana isn't a brave guy - far from it, but he wants to be "the man".  He deserves a title, but it will never be Godfather.  Say what you will about a crime kingpin, in the end he can't be a sniveling coward.

After considerable thought, we have an appropriate title for Mr. Solana, the host of so many live pigeon shoots that attract slob shooters from up and down the eastern coast and beyond.  From here on out, Solana shall be known as the Slobfather.  Runners-up were "Mr. Shake and Bake" and "The Little Orange Guy," since Solana is little (in so many ways), and apparently has an affinity for tanning beds.  In the end, however, Slobfather is the right choice.

Is Solana's character indicative of all pigeon shooters? Absolutely.  We've pursued these cowards since 1990.  I've checked a number of them out - talking to their neighbors, former business associates, employees, etc.  Every one of those people - every single one of them - gave the same description of the pigeon shooters as being corrupt, untrustworthy, narcissistic jerks.  It is therefore fitting that Solana take his rightful place as Slobfather of them all.   Since Solana is their most persistent host, it is only appropriate that he take his rightful place as Slobfather of them all.

The Welfare Royals Visit the Welfare Cowboys

Congratulations to "royals" Kate and William, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, who contrary to the will of most Brits and many caring Canadians, attended the cruel, infamous Calgary Stampede Rodeo.

Why congratulations, you might ask?  Why, because it was all done in the name of tradition.  You see, tradition is so important to everyone involved, both the "royals" and the rodeo animal abusers.

For Willy and Kate, they were merely continuing the tradition of their typical lifestyle, including living off the British people like the parasites they are.  The royals are big canned hunting advocates, not to mention polo and other abusive activities.

Speaking of hunting, it's too bad Willy and Kate didn't have a chance to grab some hakapiks, get helicoptered out on the ice floes, and smash in the heads of some baby seals.  Talk about tradition!  Oh well, there's always next time.  I'm certain the experience would give Willy a tickle and Kate a giggle.  They're such a lovely couple!

Too bad that they didn't show up the following day, as that's when a horse had his leg broken at the rodeo.  Now THAT is the tradition of the Calgary Stampede.

In all seriousness, I've never understood peoples' fascination with this disgusting bunch of phonies, born of the shallow end of the human gene pool, pretending to be different while living the high life on government welfare.  I guess the welfare thing is another commonality between the royals and the rodeo, as rodeos today wouldn't survive without government welfare on local, state and national levels.

That "shallow end of the gene pool" thing is what I have also said about pigeon shooters, and there are more similarities than differences between the "royals" and the pigeon shooters, given the canned hunts and all.

Too bad so many Americans are sucking up to these phonies.  I thought we fought a war to gain independence from them.

These are times that require real people to handle the real issues we are faced with.  I encourage those who care about animals are get serious, recommit to the long haul battle to make this a better world for not only non-humans, but ourselves as well.  Dump the cruel, unethical corporations that are polluting our planet with their dirty money, dump the corrupt politicians, and expose the fakes we have in our own movement.

Help Stop Horse "Soring"

Horse "soring" is the idiotic and cruel chemical burning of horses feet and legs to make them step higher. Other cruel practices include hanging heavy chains and weights on their legs to also force the high gait.

What You Can Do

There are proposed changes to the Horse Protection Act to help stop this - Please visit this link for more information on how you can help stop this cruelty.

Kindest Regards,

Steve Hindi and Your SHARK Team

"Kindness and compassion towards all living beings is a mark of a civilized society.   Racism, economic deprival, dog fighting and cock fighting, bullfighting and rodeos are all cut from the same fabric: violence.   Only when we have become nonviolent towards all life will we have learned to live well ourselves."   - Cesar Chavez, civil rights and labor leader, founder of the United Farm Workers
