| Greetings!
We've enjoyed seeing many of you at recent meetings, events, and around the region. There are many more opportunities to learn about and celebrate local sustainability efforts in the coming month - we hope to see you around!
Last week we attended the Green California Summit, hearing excellent keynotes and connecting with clean tech leadership groups from across the state. Congratulations to the City of Sacramento, recipient of the Green Building Award for its Community Reinvestment Capital Improvement Project. Way to bring recognition to the region!
This Friday, enjoy the warm spring weather and check out SMUD's Youth Energy Summit exhibits on the north steps of the Capitol. It is a great testament to the utility's engagement with our region's youth leaders. Additionally, in a few weeks we will be supporting the Energy Upgrade California Outreach Event, a kickoff for the state-wide program right here in Sacramento. Expect great speakers and pertinent information - don't miss it!
I will soon be heading to Washington D.C. for the Sacramento Metro Chamber's annual Cap to Cap trip. I'm looking forward to reporting back on behalf of the Clean and Green team upon our return!
Be well,
Julia

This month ten Zipcars made their debut in Sacramento's Downtown area. The car sharing program is an excellent move to reduce traffic congestion and parking demands, and also reduce emissions.
Zipcar is the world's largest car sharing service, already available in cities such as Davis, San Francisco, Santa Clara, and Santa Cruz. Zipcar users pay an annual

Solar installation turns brownfield to "bright-field"
|
|
The solar installation at Depot Park business complex was recently celebrated as the largest privately owned solar installation in the City of Sacramento. Previously designated a contaminated Brownfield site by the EPA, the 15 acre lot has become a "bright-field"-- home to a 12,600 solar panel array and expected to produce 3 megawatts of electricity . The installation will meet 40 percent of the energy needs of the 3 million square foot industrial complex.
The project was the result of collaboration between Depot Park, City of Sacramento, East West Bank, SPG Solar, and Chint Astronergy. GCA partner Sacramento Area Commerce and Trade Organization (SACTO), is also applauded for its continuous role marketing the region to clean energy businesses.
