Issue: # 22October/2010

Dear  ,

I am excited to see many of you at SARTA's Clean Tech Showcase next week (Tuesday!). If you haven't registered yet, it's time to sign up for the most comprehensive, region-focused clean tech event of the year. I'm honored to be a part of a panel discussion, and GCA welcomes all of you to visit our booth and meet the Valley Vision staff for the project.

The next month brings other exciting large-scale events to the Sacramento region: the Summit of Emerging Technologies in Energy Efficiency and the Governors' Global Climate Summit 3.

Events like these are great for bringing recognition to the region's green and clean tech sector-- by other regions and our local community, too. If you are a part of any green associations or industry groups, we encourage you to contact Paul Miller of the Sacramento Convention and Visitors' Bureau to learn about the perks and benefits of hosting your conferences right here in the Sacramento area.

Happy Autumn!

Be well,
Kristine

SACOG Receives $1.5 Million award

The Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) has received a $1.5 million competitive grant award from the U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The award was made under HUD's new Sustainable Communities Regional Planning Grant program which supports the development and implementation of regional plans that combine affordable housing with retail and business development. Congresswoman Doris Matsui stated that the funding "will further enable SACOG and its partners to implement their plans for local projects that are creating sustainable communities with access to high-quality public transit and affordable housing options."  View Article.
