Dear  ,

Autumn is the season for some of our favorite regional events. We hope to see you at SARTA's 2010 Clean Tech Showcase-- it is only a month away. The Showcase is a great way to get up to date on all of the latest clean tech news and companies in the Sacramento region. Registration details are provided below.

This issue of the Green Leader Reader provides an update on the new Energy Upgrade California program, the Green Building Task Force, and shares some news about clean tech jobs coming to the region.

Be well,
Kristine

Energy Upgrade California

On September 22, the California Energy Commission approved $33 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funding - previously designated to support Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) programs - to be reallocated to launch a new program: Energy Upgrade California. This comprehensive statewide program will focus on energy efficiency and energy building Energy Upgrade Californiaimprovement.  Partnering with local governments and utilities, the program will offer a statewide brand and awareness campaign about making energy retrofits to buildings.  Additionally, county-specific website portals will feature information about incentives available, help with finding a certified contractor, available financing mechanisms, and more. Energy Upgrade California is expected to launch in the coming weeks. Read the press release.
Clean Energy Systems receives grant, will add 150 jobs

The Rancho Cordova-based Clean Energy Systems Inc. received $30 million in federal stimulus funding early this month, and expects to create 150 new jobs in result. Founded in 1993, the firm is committed to "Power Without Pollution," as the funding will enable the development of cutting edge zero-emissions power plant technology. Congressmember Doris Matsui, who supported the grant request along with Congressmembers Dan Lungen and Jim Costa, notes the funding will also help continue to promote Sacramento as a clean tech industry leader, attract new businesses to the region, and in turn create thousands of related jobs in the future. This is an exciting reward for the hard work of the region!

The Task Force is now moving into its Evaluation & Prioritization phase. The next stakeholder convening will be on Thursday, November 10th.
