Issue: # 18 June/2010
Greetings!

Sacramento summers are notorious for turning up the heat, and this has been no exception in the GCA world. We are pleased to announce our partnership with the newly unveiled GreenWise Sacramento initiative. We have also had strong support by Congresswoman Matsui in efforts to strengthen the clean energy sector in the Region.

There are some excellent upcoming summer forums, socials, and other green events featured below. Enjoy!

Be well,
Kristine

GreenWise Sacramento Partnership

Valley Vision has established a strategic partnership with the office of Sacramento's Mayor Johnson.  Managing Partner Julia Burrows and the Valley Vision organizationGreenwise will play a central leadership role in the new GreenWise Sacramento initiative. While many community stakeholders are participating in the green initiative, Valley Vision will hold joint priority-setting goals for the initiative on behalf of our GCA partners. We will immediately start working with the Mayor designing how to transition this 8-month planning process into concrete work plans that amplify existing GCA efforts in 2011-2012 and beyond. We believe this partnership is a positive step to make our region a widely recognized leader in green, clean technology.
Congresswoman Matsui's Clean Energy Convening

On June 1st Congresswoman Doris O. Matsui and the GCA held a clean technology convening, facilitating discussion surrounding the Regional Industry Clusters of Opportunity grant. Over 50 attendees collaborated to identify critical regional needs in order to transform the Sacramento Region into a leader in the clean energy and clean technology economy. Much of the conversation focused on undersBreathe clean air awardstanding and utilizing clean energy financing tools, and formulating "the region's story" to attract businesses and raise our national profile. To be a part of future discussions on these financing and messaging components, contact Chris Flores.
