Support the Higgins Armory Museum at the 12th Annual Festival of Ale as you roam the Great Hall and Castle Quest while tasting some of the latest and greatest craft brewed beers from the region.

Middle Earth Day

The Higgins welcomes the world of J.R.R. Tolkien into its halls. Dust off your traveling cloaks and study up on your runes, or just comb your feet and join us for a day of fun and fellowship!
- Come dressed as your favorite character from Tolkien's stories of fantasies and adventures
- Hear stories of Bilbo from Tolkien's The Hobbit
- Make a Gondorian shield or design your own
- Watch Arwen teach Aragorn the proper way to slay an orc
- Play games from the Shire
- See if you can outgrin a dwarf

CastleKids StoryHour
Wednesday, September 5th
1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
From damsels in distress to mighty dragons, join us on the first Wednesday of every month as we share tales of adventure, from well-known fairy tales to modern picture books in the setting of our medieval Great Hall. Great for ages 3 to 5.
$12 for adult w/ one child ($8 for museum members). Includes admission, program with craft related to the story, and a snack. |

Salle d'Armes
Ongoing class every Tu/Th/Sa A safe, progressive system of instruction, building overall fitness and coordination as you learn living swordplay traditions handed down from the days when a person's life might depend on skill with a blade.
Ongoing class meets every Tu/Th/Sa Learn and practice the combat skills of medieval Europe's most fearsome warriors: the Vikings. We draw heavily on the medieval sagas set in Viking-age Iceland, stories that often depict Viking-age fights. Permission of instructor required to join.

Volunteers Wanted
 We welcome enthusiastic and interested people who want to join the dynamic team of individuals who help make up the "court" in our "castle."
Contribute as many hours as you choose. Volunteer benefits include free membership based on the number of hours you volunteer in a year and a discount in the Museum Store. Our greatest needs are currently in our Museum Store and at our upcoming Special Events (the Festival of Ale and Tournament of Wines). |
