Watch as teams compete for accuracy and coolness in our 3rd annual trebuchet building contest!

 

Trebuchets are a type of medieval siege machine used to destroy castle walls. Using the principles of gravity and levers, they were capable of hurling large stones a great distance.

Star Wars Day

Saturday, May 12th

Clone Warrior

Travel to a galaxy far, far away when Jedi Knights and Imperial Stormtroopers visit the Higgins!  

 

  • Compare a stormtrooper's armor to that of the Gothic knight
  • See who will win a lighsaber battle between Darth Maul and the Higgins' own Jedi
  • Sign up for a lighsaber class and learn what it takes to be a Jedi.

 

Members of the New England Garrison of the 501st Legion and the Alderaan Base of the Rebel Legion will be on hand to share their knowledge of the Star Wars galaxy throughout the day.

From damsels in distress to mighty dragons, join us on the first Wednesday of every month as we share tales of adventure, from well-known fairy tales to modern picture books in the setting of our medieval Great Hall. Great for ages 3 to 5.

 

$12 for adult w/ one child ($8 for museum members). Includes admission, program with craft related to the story, and a snack.

Extreme Sport: The Joust

Explore the pageantry of medieval tourney.
  • Experience the joust through our Virtual Joust video game.
  • See a rare "rental armor" from the 1400s that still bears deep gouges from the impact of opposing lances.
  • Discover the free-for-all "Bridge Game" played in Pisa, Italy.
