| Debra Neiman, CFP, is the Personal Finance Columnist at Entrepreneur.com |
Before turning to your home equity to fund your business, consider the potential drawbacks.
Though many business owners at some point tap into
home equity as a financing source, you need to
determine whether this strategy is right for you.
First, you should know the basic difference between the two primary kinds of home equity debt. A home equity loan is a one-time lump sum that is paid off over a particular amount of time with a fixed rate and number of payments. A home equity line of credit-- also known as a HELOC--works more like a credit card because it has a revolving balance. Interest is due on the outstanding balance and that rate may vary over time. |

Order One and Support a Great Cause
For the third consecutive year, my partner, Karen
Nickel, is part of a select group of Coldwell Banker
realtors who are selling Thanksgiving pies to raise
money for Community Servings, an organization that
provides meals to Massachusetts residents who have
life threatening illnesses, such as HIV/AIDS.
Pies can be picked up on Wednesday, November 21st at 40 locations throughout the greater Boston area. Karen, Olivia and Deb will be giving out pies at the Brookline Coldwell Banker office in the early evening. We will then take all the leftover pies to several local shelters for their Thanksgiving meals. The pies come in five heart-warming flavors: apple, pecan, pumpkin, sweet potato, and diabetic apple. Click on the link below to go to the online order form. Enjoy!! |
