Building the Success and Prosperity of Local Business

Richard Kalish
Richard Kalish Chairman of the Board

Fact: The entire community benefits when local business thrives. The public's recognition of this fact became increasingly apparent in the debates and discussions during the recent election campaign in San Rafael.

Prosperous local businesses provide job opportunities for residents. Sales tax revenue generated by a healthy local business community provides adequate funding for the police, fire and other vital services residents need and the educational, recreational and cultural activities residents expect.

Your Chamber and City officials share a commitment to the success and prosperity of local business. Each month at a regularly scheduled meeting, Chamber officers and City officials, including the Mayor, City Manager and on a rotating basis City department heads explore how we can cooperate to promote, expand and otherwise enhance the San Rafael business community.

This year and next, the America's Cup is coming to the Bay Area, bringing with it $1.4 billion in revenue, much of which will be spent outside San Francisco as participants and spectators look for ways to enhance their visit. Your Chamber and the City are committed to maximizing the ability of San Rafael businesses to capture a share of that revenue, and we have already begun working toward that end. In the coming months you will be hearing much more about opportunities that will be available for Chamber members to tap into the flow of America's Cup dollars.

I want to hear your ideas and concerns. Please share them me at rkalish@knblaw.com or call me at 415-482-2180.
