Greetings of peace!

Pax Christi USA National Council members and staff with Pax Christi International Co-Presidents Bishop Kevin Dowling and Marie Dennis (center-front).

The Pax Christi USA National council met this week in Washington, D.C. at the Center of Concern. Two new members were installed, the recently elected David O'Brien and Heather Brouillet Navarro. O'Brien is an historian who comments regularly on issues in American Catholic life and recently contributed an essay on Catholic peacemaking in Peacebuilding: Catholic Theology, Ethics, and Praxis (Orbis, 2010). Navarro formerly led a campus chapter at Washington University in St. Louis and recently helped to catalyze a new group in St. Louis. She is a private public interest attorney working in the area of civil rights, advocating for individuals and groups for the inclusion and equality of those at the margins of society.

NEW BLOG POST FROM MARIE DENNIS, PCI CO-PRESIDENT

I also wanted to draw your attention to the second article in a series on our blog posted earlier this week from Marie Dennis, Pax Christi International Co-President and a PCUSA Ambassador of Peace. The subject is very timely: civil discourse, respectful dialogue and the gospel. I think you and your groups might enjoy discussing it.

DATE FOR 2013 NATIONAL CONFERENCE ANNOUNCED

Lastly, I wanted to share with you that we have locked in a date for the 2013 Pax Christi USA National Conference. The conference is set for Washington, D.C. on the weekend of June 14-16. A "Save-the-Date" ad is on the website now with more information coming soon. We'll be celebrating our 40th anniversary at the conference plus much more! Hope you can make plans to be in Washington, D.C. on June 14-16.

Tonight we'll be honoring Ruben Garcia, our 2012 Teacher of Peace, at our annual Momentum event at Trinity University in Washington, D.C. It is a sold out event and we look forward to being inspired by Ruben and speakers Bishop Thomas Gumbleton, founding Bishop-President of Pax Christi USA, and Bishop Kevin Dowling, Co-President of Pax Christi International. Photos and more will be up on the website shortly after the event.

In Christ's peace,

Johnny Zokovitch
