Message From Richard

Greetings my brothers and sisters and welcome to our latest edition of Gods Faith Book's weekly newsletter. I'd like to once again welcome all our new members that have been joining us over the past week. It brings me great joy to welcome all of you to our growing community of friends and prayer warriors.

Finally some good news about our update that we have been working on for GFB. We will be uploading new updates over the next two weeks, starting on Monday. The changes will be gradual so as not to upset the workings of the site. Improvements on the site include improvements on the prayer center and the AV Chat room which are two of our most used features. We have also made important adjustments to our blog function which will now be much easier to use by members. Our crossword function which many members have enjoyed has been fixed and will be active again.

Virtue mart, GFB's shopping site has been down for past of couple of weeks while we upgrade and add more merchandise selections which will include books and music. This will take another two weeks or more before we can load this feature back on site.

Also, as I mentioned in an earlier newsletter, we have made a decision to add limited advertising to the GFB site . We are in need of additional funds to help maintain the GFB site and to continue the many charitable functions that we are providing. This was a difficult decision to make, but we will try it out and await feedback from members.
As we go through these changes, we will need your feedback and comments on the changes coming through. I welcome your comments and continued support.

Our, " prayer in a bottle" program that I discussed in a previous newsletter, is still on schedule and ready to be released into the ocean in August. We have received several hundred prayers that we are going to place in a large empty water bottle and will be releasing the bottle into the Atlantic Ocean in August. If you haven't already sent in your prayers, please email them to me at: mornstar100@aol.com before August 1, so that we will be able to seal them in our prayer bottle. Keep checking the home page on GFB for more information on launch date.

Remember, that this site does not belong to one person, it belongs to all of you. Without YOU, there is no US. Always Dare To Dream.

"Thank You Lord for this day, and for all you have done for us. Lord forgive us our sins, and help us with forgiveness of others. Lord please heal our bodies, minds and hearts, so that we are free and healthy in body, mind and Spirit. Lord may you guide, protect and provide for our family needs. In Jesus name we pray. Amen"

 Injustice and my own attitude

Lord, it's good to be actively concerned about the abuses of human rights in other countries, but I must not lose sight of the mis-treatment of others closer to me.

Most particularly, Lord, point out to me my own failings in lacking respect for those who come into my daily life.

I readily condemn slavery, but help me to liberate those I know who are overburdened.

I condemn torture, but lead me to discourage the use of cruel words and actions.

Remind me that those who degrade others are themselves diminished. Enlighten me so that I do not jump to conclusions about people, or be judgmental.

Lead me always to respect individuals for who they are, realizing that their experiences may be different from my own, as each follows paths in life that are individual to them.

May I grow in appreciation that those who think differently from me can hold equally valid views.

In these and other ways, Lord, may I grow in respect for all people.

This day, may others respect me as much as I respect them.

Amen.

Friend or Foe?

Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but deceitful are the kisses of an enemy. Proverbs 27:6

Can you tell the difference between a true friend and a false one? So many people cannot.

Paul made friends with the people who lived in the region of Galatia. He loved them ... and they loved him back. He told them about Jesus and led them to faith in Christ. It was wonderful, at least for a little while.

But then Paul left that region to preach the gospel elsewhere. When he was gone, false teachers came in behind him and swept the Galatians off their feet with their smooth sounding rhetoric, persuasive arguments and "kisses of an enemy." They deceived these new believers with heresy and caused them to turn on Paul, their spiritual father in the faith.

Paul was hurt, angry and incredulous. He wondered how they could so quickly turn away from Jesus and the gospel of grace. He wondered how they could so quickly see him as a foe. He said, "Have I become your enemy by telling you the truth?" (Galatians 4:16).

Is it right to view a truth-teller as an enemy? Certainly not. Truth-tellers are true friends.

LIE TO ME?
In our world today, many people would prefer to hear lies rather than the truth. The people in Isaiah's day didn't want to hear Isaiah preach the truth. They didn't want to hear that they were sinning and needed to get right with Holy God before judgment fell. They told Isaiah, "You must not prophesy to us what is right, speak to us pleasant words, prophesy illusions" (Isaiah 30:10). They wanted to have their ears tickled and hear sweet-sounding myths rather than the truth (2 Timothy 4:3-4). They wanted to hear how wonderful they were ... how much God loved them and how lucky He was to have them even give Him the time of day. How twisted is that!?

What about you? Would you rather hear the truth or hear lies?

Here is the problem with a "lie to me" mentality: It may feel good for a moment-like a kiss-but it is deadly in the long run. Those who live choosing to believe lies end up forfeiting earthly blessings and eternal rewards. The cost of the kiss is just too great.

FAITHFUL WOUNDS
To be sure, the truth often hurts. But the truth is SO NECESSARY. It is a faithful wound. It sets a person free.
When I was in seventh grade, I had hernia surgery. I went into surgery looking perfectly healthy, even though I was not. I came out of surgery with a scar and abdominal pain. I was wounded ... but it was a faithful wound that led to the wonderful blessing of long-term health and all the benefits that go along with that.

Think of salvation. The devil's kiss tells us we are fine as we are. There is no need to repent and be born again. But that is a palatable lie that will send a person to hell forever. What is the unpalatable truth?

You and I are rotten sinners unable to save ourselves and in desperate need of a Savior. (Most people don't want to hear that!) But, if we don't see our true condition, we will never cry out to Jesus in repentance and faith. We will miss out on a relationship with God and be separated from Him for all eternity UNLESS WE FIRST BELIEVE AND RECEIVE THE FAITHFUL WOUND.

Let me encourage you as I encourage myself ... walk in the light. Ask God to search your heart on a regular basis and reveal to you any darkness that might be accumulating there-pride, bitterness, jealousy, greed, idolatry, dishonesty or lust. Spend time each day listening to the truth of God's Word. And make sure you have people in your life who are true friends, folks who will love you enough to tell you the truth and provide faithful wounds.
