Operation Donkey Delivery
A huge surprise arrived at the BraveHearts Farm in Harvard on December 22, red bows and all!
Most appropriately at this time of year, a gift of kindness to enhance our programs in the form of two miniature donkeys named Maria and Pitty Pat. They were donated to us by a wonderful couple, Kathy and Larry Van Epps, owners and breeders from Fleur de Lys Farms in Verona, WI. In addition, a special "donkey house" was constructed for them and is also part of their most generous donation. A quote from Kathy Van Epps sums it up best... "We are hoping that Maria and Pitty can make a difference in the lives of special people. They would be so good at their jobs!! And selfishly, we could then feel that we are contributing to something good in this world too!!" BraveHearts plans to incorporate the donkeys into our programs to help students with: - Grooming skills
- Leading skills
- Enhancing social skills and self-esteem
- Helping participants to identify feelings and self-awareness
The donkeys can also be helpful with summer camps, retreats, and working with children, people in wheelchairs and veterans. Because of their size, miniature donkeys can

participate in outreach programs to schools and VA hospitals. And they will be wonderful BraveHearts mascots! Needless to say, all of us welcome both Maria and Pitty Pat to our BraveHearts family and will make them feel much loved and at home in no time!
