Collaboration With The Heart Association to teach CPR
Through the efforts of the Boys & Girls Clubs, the American Heart Association and the Heart Hospital of Lafayette, thirty Boys & Girls Club members now know CPR.
Thirty CPR kits were bought and donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs by Douglas and Leigha Menefee. The American Heart Association and the Boys & Girls Clubs have formed a wonderful partnership through the generosity of the Menefee's. Through this partnership, the Boys & Girls Club members were taught the importance of CPR and how to conduct it. CPR was taught to the members with the hopes that if they are put in a situation to save a life one day, they will remember the skills they learned. The Heart Hospital of Lafayette held this event in their lobby and assisted with the teaching.

Art Extravaganza at the Rodney Unit
Junior Auxiliary Holds Art Extravaganza at Vermilion Boys and Girls Club
Living up to their slogan "Care Today-Character Tomorrow" Junior Auxiliary held an "Art Extravaganza" at the Vermilion Boys and Girls Club (Rodney Unit). According to Junior Auxiliary member Madeline Dehart, "Junior Auxiliary is always striving to create opportunities for the children of our community, and teaming up with the Boys and Girls Club is an excellent way for us to make a tremendous impact."
The event consisted of over 80 kids having the opportunity to participate in a variety of art activities. For example, Jennifer Doxey an art teacher at Eaton Park Elementary and art instructor of ByYou Art Classes led a painting class where kids had the opportunity to create a canvas painting of a fleur de lis. In addition, Junior Auxiliary members also led participants in a variety of other art classes which included the opportunity to make pillows, design Christmas ornaments, as well as to make tie-dye t-shirts.
