Morgan Stanley Smith Barney Brings Ice Cream To The Jackie & Granberry Club

 

Employees at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney recently surprised our members with ice cream upon arrival at the Jackie, Granberry and J.W. Faulk Clubs. The bowls of ice cream were topped with goodies including sprinkles, cherries, candy, nuts, chocolate and strawberry syrup. The children could not contain their excitement.

Triple Play Gamesroom Festival

 

The Triple Play Gameroom Tournament was held September 15, 2011, at the Jackie Club. The Club members from the Jackie and Granberry Clubs participated in games such as pool, foosball, shoe pong, chess, connect 4, & checkers. Club members also enjoyed sandwiches, baked chips, fruit juice and a healthy snack from the LSU Ag Center. Volunteers from JC Penney, the Junior League  of Lafayette, the Ice Gators, the Southwest Group, M&J Valve Services, Chevron and special guest Alphonse from the Louisiana Ice Gators, came out to help and spend time enjoying games with the Club members.

UL Athletes, Cheerleaders and Dance Team Visits The Jackie Club

 

 

UL Athletes, Dancers and Cheerleaders visited the Jackie Club to interact with the members. They are considering making frequent visits to our Clubs.

UL Architectural Students Visit Granberry 

  


The students asked our members what changes they would like to see at the Granberry Club. The kids suggested covering the basketball court, fixing the playground equipment, replacing basketball goals, and repainting the outside of the building. 

 

 

 

  

Every Thursday 15 Granberry Members Visit The Acadiana Symphony & Orchestra 

 


The members receive voice, piano, guitar, violin, and drum lessons.

 

 

 

 

 

  

Granberry Receives New Computers From Cox

 

Granberry has received new computers from Cox. The old computers will be refurbished by Cox and brought to the Vermilion Club "Rodney Unit." The unveiling of the computers will be this Tuesday at 3pm. Cox will have a cupcake tower for the kids. 

 

 

 

 

World Wide Day of Play

 

 

Kids participated in the World Wide Day of Play! It is a day for kids to learn the importance of staying active.

 

 

 

 

  


Steak & Burger Pre-Party at Carrabba's

 

 The Steak & Burger Pre-Party went well and everyone enjoyed themselves. Thank you Carrabba's for sponsoring.

Steak & Burger has already proven to be a huge success. Board members have raised over $147,000. Our goal is $150,000. Sponsorships are still available.

 

 

  


 

Sammy Kershaw & Mike Dean Concert 

 

 

The Sammy Kershaw & Mike Dean concert was held September 16th and was an enormous success, raising approximately $11,000. The Opelousas Board did a wonderful job getting everything together.

Some of the creatures that will be in the newly added reptile exhibit are:

·120 pound Python & other Snakes
·3 ½ ft. Iguana
·Savannah Monitor & Tegu Lizard
 
·Other animals on display will be:
·Pigeons
·Rats
·Love Birds
·A Rabbit

 

This snake and lizard will be at our Cook-Off!
