Greetings!

Welcome to the May issue of Key Notes - Marketing Keys' monthly newsletter. Our goal is for you to be informed and entertained with the latest media and marketing happenings quickly and efficiently.

Your Media Habits can tell us if you're a Republican or Democrat.
Republican DemocratA new study on media consumption in the Midwest came to the following conclusion. Heavy Radio and Internet users tend to skew Republican, while big television and newspaper users skew Democratic.  Also, viewers of Fox News, the Golf Channel, the History Channel, the Speed Channel, ESPN and Country Music Television lean Republican. Viewers of MSNBC, CNN, Comedy Central, Lifetime, and Bravo lean Democratic. Does this hold true with your media habits?

All News Radio Formats are "TOP" in Revenue!
News RadioWTOP-FM, the all news station in Washington, D.C., was the highest billing station in 2010. Estimates have the station billing more than 57 million last year thanks in part to significant political and economic news to report. KIIS-FM, a CHR station in Los Angeles, was second in revenue with 54 million. Locally, Chicago's WBBM-AM, Newsradio 780, was the top billing station in Chicago and the 7th highest-billing radio station in the country in 2010 with billings estimated at 42.5 million.

Local TV loves Elections!
Local ElectionLocal TV revenues rose +23.2% to 19.4 Billion in 2010 Driven by Political Campaigns and National Advertising. In 2011, television industry revenue experts expect TV revenues to be down during this non-election year before rising again in 2012. Last year's stellar numbers were a result of strong political spending and a faster than expected rebound in national advertising. Local television continues to show its value to advertisers by being one of the most influential mediums.
