This Week's New Video

Changing Motifs in Verses: Before you write your 2nd verse, check what you wrote in your 1st verse. The worst mistake you can make is to repeat yourself conceptually. The job of the 2nd verse and/or 3rd verse is to move the story along and color the chorus lyric in a different way than the first time the listener hears it. In "Don't Laugh At Me," the 1st verse makes reference to 4 characters none of which are developed to a great extent. The 2nd verse features only one character using a much broader brushstroke as far as giving the listener insight into that character.
