Dear Songwork Members,
We hope you enjoyed last weeks final video in the "Living a Writer's Life," series! This week's video, Three Boxes: Part 1, is the 1st video in a new theme called, "Going Deeper with Lyrics," where we'll take a closer look at verse/chorus development, and the kinds of phrasing considerations that can make your lyrics a lot more emotional.
This Week's New Video
The Three Boxes, Part 1: From a lyrics perspective, when you're repeating sections such as a chorus or refrain, you risk losing your audience's interest by the 2nd or 3rd time you play that section. So, how do you move through the repeatable sections of your songs, and make them become even more interesting each time so the audience remains hooked, not just in the beginning, but all the way through to the end? The Three Boxes. The boxes will also come in extra handy when you're writing from a title, trying to establish a "journey" and decide "the order of things," either in a first write or a revisionary mode.
