Happy New Year, songwriters!
The year may be new, but we don't need any resolutions to continue providing you with exciting and useful content at Songwork.com! In this week's videos, Pat Pattison goes deeper into his discussions about Phrasing, and Steve Seskin provides us another Journey of a Song video with the song, "One Drop of Water."
Enjoy!
Phrasing, Part 2: Strong-Bar, Weak-Bar
Instructor: Pat Pattison
In this segment of the "Phrasing" series, Pat shows the emotional consequences of starting your lyric phrase in either the strong bar or the weak bar. Being aware of these tools will make you a much more powerful writer, co-writer, singer and all around musician.
Journey of a Song: One Drop of Water
Instructor: Steve Seskin
This video illustrates the art of "saying it without saying it." In both verse one and two, the writer is referring to a specific character without ever naming that person. The descriptions are written in such a way that the listener can identify who is being talked about. It's a good example of "show, don't tell."
