 Taglit-Birthright Israel

Taglit-Birthright Israel provides free, first-time trips to Israel for Jewish young adults ages 18 to 26. Taglit-Birthright Israel's founders created this program to send thousands of young Jewish adults from all over the world to Israel as a gift in order to diminish the growing division between Israel and Jewish communities around the world; to strengthen the sense of solidarity among world Jewry; and to strengthen participants' personal Jewish identity and connection to the Jewish people.

The gift of the 10-day trip is provided by: private philanthropists through The Birthright Israel Foundation; the people of Israel through the Government of Israel; and Jewish communities around the world (North American Jewish Federations, Keren Hayesod and the Jewish Agency for Israel).

The Jewish Federation of Delaware proudly supports Birthright Israel.

AROUND THE WORLD

Greetings!

On Sunday, I attended a joint confirmation class at Congregation Beth Emeth with teens from Congregation Beth Shalom and Adas Kodesch Shel Emeth to hear from Senator Coons' Foreign Policy Advisor, Halie Soifer, and Josh Schoenberg, AIPAC's Mid-Atlantic Political Director, who informed and inspired our next generation of leaders. It was especially meaningful to see our synagogues collaborate and working together.

On Monday, our new Israel & Oversees Committee met to review all of the wonderful programs we support overseas including our sister city of Arad/Tamar through Partnership Together (P2G), the Ethiopian National Project (ENP), a Youth Outreach Center, and a new Negev Funding Coalition initiative.

On Tuesday, Federation hosted an Ambassador Training Program for our beneficiary agency boards. More than 20 leaders were engaged by a trainer from the Jewish Federations of North America.

On Wednesday, more than 40 University of Delaware Hillel students departed on a Birthright Israel experience including our Israel Fellow, Onn Halfon. Later that evening, our Holocaust Education Committee met to further their commitment of educating our community through programs and presentations.

On Thursday, our community came together to hear Comedian Cory Kahaney at the Siegel JCC. Our Young Leadership Division also hosted their monthly Schmooze & Brews series at the JCC Jcade.

And tonight, please celebrate a special Kosher Gospel Kabbalat Shabbat at Congregation Beth Shalom with Joshua Nelson, "The Prince of Kosher Gospel" at 8:00pm and open to the community or attend Temple Beth El's Kabbalat Shabbat featuring Rabbi Mordechai Liebling.

Thank you for your continued support of building community and Improving Our World...TOGETHER.
